Why isn't that team in the NEC? Or do they hope to leap-frog that level of competition in a couple of years?

I actually hope they get a bit better. I would love to see Jersey basketball be a thing.

They wouldn't do well in the NEC----plus they lack good programs in the other areas. Their Arena is currently awful-----a bad HS gym.

Hopefully their new facility changes that.

Good - NJIT is a good school - have been glad to see it growing in multiple ways (has come a long way from "NCE") - and ultimately, improvement of the local (NJ) competition is good for all in the long term - and will build regional excitement.

The shifting of perceptions to it being highly desirable to 'stay home' and play in the premium pool of NJ B-Ball would be very very great - and will require all participants to be highly respectable -

in the meantime it will be interesting to see how the national sports media grapples with what to call the school & team - last year it seemed to be a mix between the traditional "En - Jay - Eye - Tee" and "New Jersey Tech" ...
