“Rutgers Big Ten Title Hopes end”
Meanwhile everyone at Nj .com headquarters:
“PHEW!!!!”

literally worst thing in the world to them is the threat of any Rutgers success whatsoever. Doesn’t matter, once you stop clicking that stupid site you’ll be happier. In fact, if people stopped posting their stupid headlines and articles on this site, we’d all be happier !!!

You are literally wrong. They would like nothing better than RU athletic success. It's good for business.

Yes, they will be sensationalistic, because that is what sells. They will be our biggest cheerleaders if our athletic performance warrants it. If not, they will be our biggest detractors.

lol. Rutgers success would be the best thing in the world for them (as well as NJ Devils success). It’s silly thinking otherwise.

You are kidding right? NJ.com loves having Rutgers teams doing well, as that gets far more attention and clicks than when we suck. To think otherwise is just crazy.

That is true, but it is pretty clear from the context what they meant.
I hear you….just trying to point out that if they thought it through they could have come up with something a bit more…..accurate. But it is the SL.

I refuse to look at nj.com until the post a Devil's score.
The only true New Jersey team and they refuse to cover them, But they can tell you where to get a Sixers James Harden jersey!!!!!!!
Wow, didn’t know that about the Devils. They also do not cover the Mets. If there happens to be a Mets article it is under the section “Yankees”.

That headline is a bit much. Come on.
The writer of an article (be in print or internet) generally does not write the headline. Headlines tend to be much more sensationalistic and attention-grabbing, and often are more "out there" than the article would seem to support.

This is by no means a new phenomenon and is not unique to any one news source.

It's f***in ridiculous. It's NJ.COM for God's sake!! It's the NJ DEVILS!!!
Go to nj.com right now. Hit the tab for sports and then the tab for Devils. The last Devils game they reported on was when they beat Buffalo 2-1. The date of that game? October 23!!!!!!!!!
They have not had a single game article on the team in nearly four months!!!

We are now 2.5 games out of first with four games to play and four teams to catch. Headline seems pretty accurate to me.
Sure it’s accurate in the context of there was a 1% implied probability of Rutgers winning the big ten, so why not write a headline about how they didn’t do it.

journalists are horrible people
If you can actually find one! I Long for days of real journalism, long on facts short on descriptive sensational adjectives
Example “dow down 100”=real reporting
“Dow plummets”= today’s 23 year old “Financial” expert who graduated with a communication degree and a true understanding of pronouns used to describe his, her, they sexual preferences, from some elitist institution, living in a bubble judging hard working Americans trying to put food on the table.

And doesn't that say something about their Rutgers coverage? I mean, if they do that to the Devils.. what wouldn't they do to Rutgers?

We all know moments in the past where S-L / NJ.com piled on. That is why they have this reputation among Rutgers fans. It is not because a few fans are over-sensitive... as the defenders of the establishment are so quick to call out. It is because the S-L NJ.com has EARNED their reputation.

If reporters were so wonderful why do so many people take the smart mode and refuse to be interviewed by them or if they do agree ,they need a lawyer at their side-- and I'm not talking about "political" issues. Many of us involved in their professional careers had the experience of protecting oneself from reporters distorting the truth, even in simple situations.

The man who wrote the greatest headline in newspaper history.

I can recall two I like better, both sports related.

1) Len Barker pitches a perfect game against Toronto. Headline: "Barker Smokes 27 Straight Jays"

2) Randall Simon was disciplined by MLB for playfully (we think) lightly hitting with a bat one of the participants in Brewers sausage race. Headline: "Simon Suspended for Pounding Sausage"

NJ.com should be covering the Devils but nobody else is either. Every other outlet dumped the team. The Athletic doesn't have a guy there anymore, I'm pretty sure the Bergen Record stopped covering them too. Nobody cares about them. Nobody shows up to their games. Nobody reads about them. They're a bad team in a sport that like 3% of the American population cares about.
