I know this is definitely looking ahead but there is an article by James Kratch(I am not sure how to link) stating that if we take care of business we can be in first place in the Big going into the MSU game at home. Very interesting

Typical NJ.com strategy, build/set a ridiculous pie in the sky expectation and then kill you if you don't achieve it. If you don't achieve it RU fails again is the next article, if you do I'm brilliant I predicted that. How about one game at a time and see where that takes us.
Yep… that’s pretty much their M-O.

update to my own post:

Looks like college gameday bball has been in studio since COVID , BUT is returning to campus next week and is planning to remain hosting the Sat morning show on campuses for the remainder of the 2022 season!

Guys - we have a legit shot for that Sat game vs MSU.

Beating Minnesota coming off COVID, Maryland at home (who we already beat), Nebraska (already beat, winless in conference, sucks), and Northwestern (2-5 in conference) is pie in the sky?

There is literally no fan that is only looking at one game at a time.

We lost to Lafayette. UMass. DePaul. We can lose to any of the teams mentioned. The key is to bring our defense (even after a game where shooting goes well like Nebraska) and cut down on the turnovers.

Other games we would compete against on Feb 5th for gameday:

#17 Illini at Indiana
#25 Uconn at #11 Nova
#2 Auburn at Georgia
#15 Iowa St at #23 Texas
Michigan at #4 Purdue
#5 Baylor at #7 Kansas
#14 MSU at Rutgers
#16 USC at #3 Arizona
#6 Duke at UNC
#1 Gonzaga at BYU
#9 UCLA at AZ ST

Would be pretty tough to beat the highly ranked vs ranked and "brand name" match-ups of Baylor at Kansas, USC at AZ, Iowa St at Texas, or ESPNs usual love-fest of Duke at UNC

ESPN will perform the ratings metrics and then select Duke

No one said we couldn't lose. But it's not "pie in the sky" to think that we could beat the 4 worst teams in the league who have a combined conference record of 4 wins and 24 losses.

Exactly. These are the most winnable games on the schedule. We should want all of them. No let downs. Bring it every night and go on a conference winning streak

Wonder if MSU felt that NW sucked after they lost to them on their home court, Let's put Nebraska in the automatic column especially since they are better than they were last year when they beat us by 20 at their place. There is no such thing as a gimme on the road in the Big, could we win both those games possibly but it will not be easy or automatic and we have not exactly been the poster child for consistency (1-5 on the road this year)

Tell us if we are in first place at end of regular season otherwise it won’t matter. Just win if the game is still on. Getting the feeling though this Minnesota game is going to be cancelled the vid.

Message board nonsense. We are not that good. We need to bring it every night. Every ounce of energy to win. Even with the team playing well, historically asking them to play like that night in night out is a big ask. Especially on the road

Winning 3 straight big ten road games is a tall order. It's doable though

@Nebraska actually scares me. We destroyed them at home and they are winless in conference with many close games. They blitzed us there last year and I fear we take them lightly….but once game at a time. The only game that matters is Minnesota right now.

Hopefully if the game goes at Minny we can catch them a little off coming off Covid, but need to be ready to go from the tip. I agree Nebraska won't be easy, yes they have not won a league game but they have played tough but have not been able to finish, they will be a tough out at their place
