It's a suitable option for a lot of programs, its just not going to continue to be viable for Power 4 programs going forward.....if there's no revenue for it and you are used to hosting games against your conference mates, asking fans to see a low or mid major in your gym, is not encouraging for anyone involved.....and it turns into a Super Bowl game for that mid major......no Bueno.

Playing similar levels of competition like the Crown can work, it just has to be preseason and not post season.

It's good teams on there, who could've knocked off tourney teams. UAB is interesting. I thought they brought everybody back from their tournament team last yr. Jus end up missing it this year

Do they only have like 6-7 healthy players
Please BB Gods let this be a sick joke. If CVS turned it down that year with an outstanding team, I pray what's her name doesn't take that pathetic group to MSG. Wow, the NIT needs to just disappear.

Not a joke, sick or otherwise. It's been officially announced.

Only thing I can think of is that the WNIT really, really, really wanted to attract some P5 teams, and dug deeper and deeper into the bottom of the barrel until they landed some. They got two, both with losing records (the other being Butler).

No way RU goes to MSG. They'll likely go to some local mid-major. I wouldn't be shocked if they are competitive, or even win a game. The WNIT field is a major step down from B1G competition.

LOL at the headline of the Rivals story, "Rutgers Women's Basketball Earns WNIT Bid". Earns. Honest, that's what it says.

NIT will be an opportunity to see the remnants of what was once a student athlete event. Few, if any, NIL pros in this tourney, so it should be competitive. College
b-ball as we once knew it is RIP.
I think more players get paid than you realize. Dean Reiber reportedly got $70K from Charlotte.

In women’s basketball, the next 32 go to the WBIT, which is run by the NCAA and ends alongside the men’s NIT at Hinkle. They started it last year.

The WNIT is pay to play, run by that Triple Crown Sports company. That’s for the next 48 after the first group goes to the NCAA and the next go to the WBIT. Have no idea how they find teams to fill that thing out.
