NIL Exemption for State Tax?

That would be total bs. How could that NOT be income? People busting their humps to donate 5 dollars here and 10 dollars there to help pay them sure don't get exemption
But they could! Come on Unicameral, re-write the Nebraska Revenue Code to allow NIL donations to be a tax deduction, or better yet a tax credit for the individual making the donation. That will grow that NIL pool

OMG. If churches, Wounded Warriors, etc. have to compete with Husker football for tax deductible donations, then our state would sink to a new low. And letting it be a tax credit would probably put us in competition with Mississippi and New Mexico for the most hapless state government in the union. Probably have to go to volunteer state patrol. Maybe go back to the Wild West posse system of yesteryear.

Ok, I’m fine with that. I thought we were saying the recipient (players) shouldn’t be taxed as income. That’d just be pointless and ridiculous. You got people making 50k(or less) paying taxes but we’re gonna exempt 18 year olds making 6-7 figures? Not sure how that would go over with the general public…

If the public cares about winning again it’d go over like gangbusters

This is f'ing insane. Just to get a better football team for the state school, you are willing to not tax the players income. Priorities?

I would hope that the public would vote this down if it were a ballot measure.

I hate NIL so i'm not objective on this subject, but I wonder how much this would sway a talented kid w/options. I question if most of them would really care that much about a few percent difference on their bottom line....and I admit i've no idea...but if they wished to be paid and treated like adults then I think they should pay taxes just like adults. Also, if a few percent on their take home is the only reason they choose a school, I don't want em. They need to want to be at their school of choice and it can't JUST be about the money or they will never stick or reach their potential anyway.

Simply comes down to a percentage that would be withheld from check

Govt overreach is a higher priority than boasting a championship caliber football program?

Not in my world. Not even close.

You can win and pay taxes like every other adult. If GA does this (passes this?) it will force other states to fallow. I’d prefer GA shoots this down and doesn’t change the precedent. JMO

Texas, AZ, FL have those things

Yet, no state income tax

How mysterious!

I believe another state or two as well?? Montana?? Not sure but I thought there was a mountain state somewhere....

I did not understand you were talking state only, I read your intent incorrectly... but they also have many other things we don't to help offset that. Things we'll never have.

I would love to not pay any income tax, or property tax, or sales tax, or any other tax that might get snuck in there. If we have to pay taxes... (which we kind of do) I would also love it if the wealthiest of Americans paid the same % in taxes that I do.

I would love to know how our society would function if no one paid any taxes at all. Very serious question. I know some of you hate public schools so for you that would be an easy cut. But what about the military and its 842Billion$ budget? What about Backing the Blue? Fire Departments? Roads? Bridges?

Only a moron believes no income tax = no tax at all.

Your dollars are already taxed at minimum in triplicate.

Can’t believe you’re allowed near kids.

Everyone would love to do away with it. I also know if they did, we'd just take it up the *** in other areas. Just like the other states that don't have it....
NE already has one of the highest property tax rates in the country

Your *** is already gaped. And the fire dept still didn’t make it to your house in time.

The wealthiest make most of their money from capital gains … do you honestly think that should be taxed at the same level as normal income?

No. But I think regular income should and you shouldn't be able to utilize ridiculous loopholes to avoid doing so. I'm ok with some write-offs, like normal business expenses, but I have some buddies that show almost zero income and live pretty damn well. That's my beef.

But hey if we get rid of all income tax together then no worries. We are all on the same playing field then.

So what taxes do you think we should pay? I thought you were an advocate for no taxes at all?

I can't believe that you think I would give a **** about what you think about me. So your last comment is, like most of your comments hollow and pathetic.

Can you quote me on the bolded portion?

or is this an emotional assumption you're making?

paying taxes on property, goods and services is fine by me. in this way, the rich already do pay much more than your measly pittance.

Sorry to have struck a nerve.

We're basically slaves that pay 40-50% of what we make to taxes if you work.

No such law should exist in the first place

NE already has one of the highest property tax rates in the country

While you don't say anything specifically with regards to all taxes you have definitely made it clear that only lemmings would want to pay. Property, State Income, Federal Income. (Which I would love not to have to pay to pay by the way.)

So your sure genius and creative analysis has brought us to the conclusion that all that is needed is sales tax. Ok so what level of sales tax funds 842Billion in defense spending, all of the infrastructure needs, Backing the Blue, Fire Departments, Subsidizing large corporations and farmers, etc....

I'll remove, safety nets for the poor, health for 65+, all public education, and any other gross mismanagement of public funds that you see as a scourge on the tax paying citizens of the US.

So again how do we pay for the services that YOU feel are worthy of your earned money? What % raise in sales tax will make this a viable solution?

I'm too rural for the fire department to save my house. Fire chief has let me know that. I have no problem paying taxes towards or donating to my FD regardless. I am a member of a community. Not just about me or my family.
