Weird timing… do they promote internal immediately?
If it's anyone who was there last year as all of that was going on, I doubt it.

I say that they give Lovie Smith a call. Let him take the team for a year. He basically took the Texans job as a placeholder, maybe he would do it again.

They need to get a tough disciplinarian to show everyone how serious this is 🙄

Remember when Pelini was mentioned in every coaching search? At the beginning of his time at NU I always figured we'd lose him to another program eventually.

Well, obviously they should follow NU's lead and get another decorated alumnus. They could chose from Darnell Autry or that's pretty much it.

Or they could go splash hire with Michael Wilbon.

Two possible types

1. A young guy that is willing to take a chance (to become a millionaire and be set for life) while hoping by the 3rd year he can leave for a huge paycheck

2. An old dude, looking to pad his retirement (like What Whipple did)

It is funny, for obvious reasons, but he would be an amazing hire for them.

God, I can't believe I just said that. But, to get a guy with that much experience and all the connections he has and honestly a guy that is "okay" with losing and is really good with the media, not that there is any NW media coverage.

I mean, he could probably guide them to a 2 win season.

I don't know if it's quite that bad but it's in the zip code. Made worse as Fitz could have had a better job for years.
Among the highest education standards in the country, zero resources, zero fan base and recruiting against literally every P5 program north of or near the Mason/Dixon

Pair that with historical ineptitude and you’re looking at the worst job in all of college football

If he hadn’t of made his players dry hump they may have never gone to the b10 championship

It’s between Nw, Stanford and Vandy. Stanford seems like a bigger deal and Vandy is in SEC. Anything NW has going for it over those schools?

I don't like or hate Northwestern, for me they're "just there." And we can joke about their fanbase and it's size but I do feel for their alumni and fans - what a sucky place to be a month before the season begins.
