Can we have a discussion about water in the Southwest?

Well, I’m glad I have people thinking about water. Funny, you guys have acted like humans have a limited impact on local climates. Now you are pointing out how irresponsible we are. Welcome to the team!

We should be talking more about this stuff. C’mon GOP, lead the way.

My wife and I did a wine tour in central California at least 10 years ago. During the tour the bus stopped to watch harvesting walnuts. 1) there are machines with large arms that shake the trees causing the nuts to fall. 2) they have machines that blow the nuts into piles in the lanes between the trees. 3) they have vacuums that go down the lanes to suck up the nuts.

It you notice in your picture, they grow the trees in lanes that allow mechanical harvest. It is desert except for the water so there is a lot of dust, but every time you eat walnuts or almonds thank the Colorado river for them.

It isn’t a cattle ranch, which is what much of the discussion was based upon. That and overpopulation. Perhaps liberals feeling good about not drinking milk from cows have actually created a problem.

Well, you are just a fake expert and as usual wrong. You said Arizona wasn’t built for this population and Arizona needs to depopulate. Perhaps Arizona should go back to 1960 when the population of the state was 1.3 Million, a massive decrease! Sadly, Arizona in the 1950s used MORE water than it does today! Our fake expert was wrong. Crops such as cotton and citrus in addition to less refined irrigation methods led to greater usage 7 decades ago! I’ll leave it to the actual Arizona experts rather than an “expert” who chose to move to a drought prone state like Colorado.

Yes, humans have been misguided. The discussion has been around water. We do a terrible job of managing it. If we continue, the cattle ranches will continue to shrink. Not rocket science, natural resource management. I’m learning that most have a very elementary level of knowledge around it.

But hey, now you guys know something about almonds. Progress!

Used way too much water then. Less now, but still too much, considering the limited resources available locally.

Similar to overdose numbers. Numbers are declining, but still too high.

“Natural resource management”. Hilarious. You’re the same person who didn’t understand the concept of “conservation” previously. Let me tell you something you clearly should learn. Almond Joy’s got nuts. Mounds don’t.

What did I not understand? Be specific. You just rant about global warming and climate change in these discussions.

In my area, it is talked about quite a bit. Alternative sources are being set up. I bet 25% of the homes under construction in my neighborhood have rainwater capture systems.

Yep. And once again a blanket policy from the Federal government would garbage, as each area of our country has their own unique environmental issues and the solutions necessary may be quite different.

Au contraire. The rants about “climate change” come from you, the one who confuses local heat zones and local weather patterns with manmade climate change. The climate change has been around since God’s spirit hovered above the waters of the earth. Alaska’s north slope was once lush, green, wet and full of dinosaurs. That was 100 million years ago before man existed.

We have gone from “humans don’t cause water shortages” and “we have plenty of fresh water” to

“why don’t we just desalinate the oceans” and “the almond farms contribute to water shortages” in just a couple days.

You guys are quick learners. Humans built up the almond farms.

A M E R I C A.

Here is something doubters of America should look up to make themselves feel better about our Country. It touches on several instances of like events in today's news.

Brian Shul was an USAF Pilot that flew in Viet Nam, over 200 missions, was shot down over Cambodia.

He survived the crash and the gas explosion at the crash. Despite his injuries he was rescued by Special Forces on the ground. The SF and air assets fought off the enemy and he was loaded into a chopper and flown out. That was despite the chopper, because of the terrain being unable to land. The chopper hovered at 4 feet, so he could be medevacked.

Burned so bad, the Doctors sent him to Okinawa to die gradually.

He lived and was airlifted to the burn hospital in San Antonio, where he underwent 15 major surgeries in over a year in bed. Down to 119 pounds from 200, he was unable to eat.

One day he heard Judy Garland singing "Over the Rainbow" on a radio. The words to the song clicked and he started to want to live. But still couldn't keep anything down.
His Nurse gave him the lunch that the Nurse had brought in for his lunch break. There was a liquid packet of Grape Kool aide. That tasted good and he kept it down !

The Nurse went to the Kitchen and brought all the Grape Kool aide in stock !
3.1 Gallons in total, he drank it all. The next week he drank 5 Gallons a day ! Then he could eat !

Over a year later, he walked out of the Hospital and fought for return to active duty.

He was attached to the original A-10 Thunderbolt Squadron. He had passed the Flight Physical !

Later he heard that the SR-71 program was looking for Pilots. He passed the Astronaut Physical.
He became one of the UNDER 100 Pilots that flew the fastest/highest plane STILL today 60 years later ! OVER Mach 3, 90,000 feet. OVER 4,000 rockets and missiles fired at it, NEVER a scratch !

The SR-71 had No Radar, NO Computers, NO Guns, NO Missiles. The last plane retired flew from LA to DC in 30 MINUTES. Now at the Smithsonian Museum.

Look him up, watch him online, it will pick you up from a bad day !

Pretty sure nobody doubts our honorable men and women in the military. It's the ones giving the orders that are the problem, not the bad asses following the orders.

My Sister's home in Bermuda in the 1960's had rainwater collection !

Almond farms are in California. Water works in the desert everywhere except you keep ranting about Arizona.

You apparently have ben living on a Rocky Mountain high to think Colorado is different. Eastern colorado is not water sufficient except for the Western rockies. What is your solution to your neighbors using lots of colorado river water for lawns. for illegal aliens. for whatever. your solution is to demonize Arizona. it is not different than Eastern Colorado.

And woke grocery stores sell ketchup, mustard, soda, etc in plastic bottles, but will only use paper bags in the checkout line.

Not sure how Trump saying "the Iranian people want to be free" blends nicely with Trump saying "this whole civilization will die tonight". I know this is the Must Defend thread, but it really doesn't make any sense.

It’s pretty simple. I’m sorry you can’t speak the Trump language despite him being the number 1 best seller for national news networks and internet rags for at least 11 years, so I will help you out. The “whole civilization” is cofveve for the regime, not the people.
