I have been a Giants for over fifty years too but have never seen them in person.Matter of fact have never been to New York.Kids have got me tickets to the Lions game in two weeks and will be there for five days. What are the top three to four places and things to do.Do not want to make the mistake of trying to see everything in such a short period. Thanks in advance for ideas and help

Wow topps! It really depends on what you want to do! I'd definitely walk down to the World Trade Center memorial, very moving. Great tribute. Get tickets online in advance. See if you can get to the Statue of Liberty, top of Empire State. Sounds like a lot but it's definitely do able, and if you can walk around Central Park or check out the Met that's great. Taking the subway to yankee stadium is cool as well if you're into that which something tells me you would be.

Now as for food, man the world is your oyster in NYC, would be happy to shoot over a list via email of my favorite places.

LOVE NYC. Empire State Building is pretty cool. Take the Staten island ferry (at night) great view of the city and the Statue of Liberty and it's FREE lol. Eat pizza at Julianna's and walk the Brooklyn bridge it's another great view. And go to Trump Tower because it's cool but also how many presidents homes can you actually go and get Starbucks in? And deff WTC very powerful.

Yeah, it's a common mistake. i generally like to go to the city with a few ideas (if I'm not there for a game or work) and go from there. Then again I am am close to NYC and get there a bunch. If I miss out on something I can do it soon enough.

Topps, I would recommend checking out a broadway play if that is of interest to you. I had never been to one until the last few years as it never interested me but I was surprised. It was pretty cool.

2 low cost options. First, you can take a bus from around the Garden (I assume you want to see MSG) up through the east side for very little money and you get to see the best part of Manhattan. Second, Ellis Island is very moving and gives you a glimpse into our nation's immigration history. I don't know what your heritage is but you might have had relatives who came through Ellis Island and it's an unforgettable experience to visit there.

There are an unlimited number of late night bars all over town with great live music if you're into that.

1. Skip Giants game, they stink.
2. Freedom Tower Observatory deck, amazing views. 9/11 museum and memorials are there as well.
3. Walk Battery Park and see NY Harbor.
4. Take NY Harbor cruise from West Side piers. See Lady Liberty and ride under Brooklyn Bridge.
5. Walk the High Line on West Side.
6. Walk Central Park and take the Mrs to lunch at Boathouse.
7. Rockefeller Center - Top of Rock.
8. Yankee game.
9. Upper West side, take cab to 80th and Amsterdam. Walk around and find outdoor restaurant, that's real NYC.
10. Soho, take the Mrs and just walk around. Outdoor cafes everywhere.

Have to second the Ellis Island visit. Very informative, something every American should see.

Raccoon Saloon on Amsterdam and 80th? is a cool little neighborhood bar.

Like some of these. Lived on 75th and Central Park West, and then 86th and Columbus, so you know I am Upper West biased;) And the Boathouse is my favorite place on earth.

Great site to plan city trips and things to see - www.visitacity.com.
Here is the link to itineraries for 1-7 day trips.
http://www.visitacity.com/en/new-york-city

We did NY at Christmas - lots of walking but fun to see the actual city that way
Off beat things we did - The Intrepid air, sea and space museum on the aircraft carrier is cool. Flatirons area, Grand central station, Washington square park. Grab a ticket for a show...some good ones on Broadway obviously.

Enjoy, it's a great city atmosphere and great to walk around.
As far as food, we found the indoor food markets great fun...lots of choices and great atmosphere
Here is a guide to some in NY
