If the Music of Michael Jackson is really a show this year, I may actually stay in my seat for half time....and wear a glitter-covered glove. And frankly, Im not scared of some good cartoon themes either.

Was it @ Arkansas last year where the Arkansas band did pregame football show music from Fox, ESPN, NBC, etc. Away games is where I actually sit through halftime.

And I fully support the patriotic and homecoming shows. Dang, what's to hate about those?

What's new with the uni's? I hope they found a lightweight, freely-breathing material so they can wear uniforms and not ***** about wearing dark-colored winter materials in 90 degree heat.

I have thought for years ( even before CC) that we needed a swac band director. Get me some drums and horns, maybe the band leader guy with some sort of cape....The valley band at the hump last year was worth the price of admission if there had not even been a game. Why would we not have something fun and exciting instead of a Michael Jackson show...Really? there has to be some irony in there, a black coach, a halftime show about a guy who was black but is now white. If we have a flagott this year, I know he/she will be more than excited about that performance......

although it's not "cool" to say, michael jackson had some HUGE hits and great music. his greatest hits cd's are freaking awesome. i'll rock them out in the jeep, but only if the top's on... same goes for madonna and prince (at least raspberry beret and little red corvette. and purple rain. and when doves cry.)

i like the michael jackson idea. i think they did motown in the past (or i saw somebody do it), and it was good. at least it's better than one year i remember, the FMB did a "tribute to the sun" during halftime in jackson. we were playing either usm or lsu, and our band was running around waving yellow/gold flags. good planning...

PLEASE do not ever put Prince in the same category as Michael Jackson and Madonna. Prince did every damn thing: wrote songs, played the instruments, and even wrote hits for other artists. He was as good as they come. Although MJ did have some great songs, and Madonna was more about hype (and was a master of it), Prince was/is far and away so much better than those two.

To make it sports related, he played a mean basketball game against Charlie Murphy:

not necessarily grouping them together, just that i wouldn't really crank up raspberry beret while i'm driving through town with the top down. the same way i wouldn't rock out billie jean or like a prayer.

also sports related - prince's halftime show at the super bowl (playing purple rain in the purple rain) was awesome. some people hated it - i thought it was classic. </p>

I can say for sure that the FMB is better than Ole Miss's, Kentucky's, and Vanderbilt's bands. It's about equal to South Carolina's and Arkansas's, a little below Auburn's and Alabama's, and definitely below Georgia's, Florida's and LSU's. Never seen Tennessee's.

Madonna early 80s great, since then not so much.

MJ was alright, but I never understood the hype.</p>
