They announced what was planned. Interesting.

Volleyball, soccer and an NFL type skills challenge and more.

I'm sure it will be enough to get fans to attend but I will not attend just for that.

Is there a date announced?

This sounds lame AF but it also sounds like a (really bad) excuse to go to lincoln and get drunk

Okay, the more I think about this more more stupid it is...

So the idea now is for fans of Husker football to go to Lincoln to watch volleyball and soccer? What the ****.

This is lame.

Don’t go. It’s not for everyone.

I don't get spreading it out over Memorial Stadium, Hibner, and Devaney. I think that will dilute the crowd too much.

I guess since Husker Volleyball will be playing KU for their "Spring Game" at Devaney, that means not taking the team to a smaller Nebraska town as Cook did for many years? I hope that isn't a permanent change going forward. I think those trips to small town Nebraska paid off in spades for volleyball's popularity.

Back in the 60’s and 70’s Nebraska would have all spring day where they wound have the spring football game at 1:30, baseball game maybe hour later and Track meet following the football game.

This isn’t something the University has never done before because it is..

Meh, if anyone in my clan wants to go, I'll do it but I won't be the one pushing people to go/pre buying tickets.

Maybe it'll be great but I've never been an early adopter.

Love the Huskers but count me out.

*IMO- could be kind of a cool day for kids. Hopefully they aren't trying to charge $5 for a hotdog at these weird events.

I stand corrected. NU announced that Volleyball will ALSO take it's game on the road this spring and play in Ord. 👍👍

For years we would either be in a skybox (charity raffle thing) or get tix. We made a day of it, hitting up 5-6 different bars, a tailgate or two. But this, I don't know about it. I have zero interest to watch volleyball, I have zero interest to watch soccer and watching some skills challenge sounds lame.

****, just have the frats come out and play a flag football tourney, that would be better and even that is a horrible idea.

Perhaps the sororities instead?

The “game” hasn’t been anything but a watered down exhibition for years. If you’re using the spring game for an excuse to hit the bars, who cares what they’re doing? No one is going there to see a game. They’re going for the experience.

We were going to get to see the future and young players.

Nothing says "F off" to the fans like replacing the spring game with a women's intramural flag football and women's soccer. And charging admission.

Who is it for exactly? The volleyball game doesn't count. They were going to play that game anyway. Putting it on the same date and counting it as part of the "fan celebration" is just an attempt to put lipstick on a pig.

Clemson is having a Spring Game.

I can only imagine that by May they won't even have a team anymore.

So, VB is not afraid to "put something on tape" this spring for their fall opponents to review, but MR is? I like MR and what he has done, but this is bullcrap. Osborne played a spring game every year and wasn't worried that it would somehow give opponents an advantage. Bama had a spring game every year (I attended once because I happened to be in Tuscaloosa that day and it was a great atmosphere). Saban still won several Nattys. So, have many others. What has happened to the days when our linemen had the nads to line up and tell the defense what play was coming and then run it down their throats anyway?

The spring game was as much as anything a time when families who don't have connections to get tickets or can't afford to get tickets to take their kids to games could give their kids some semblance of the experience. Play the damn game (or fake game). IMO, anyone who pays to go watch some "skills challenge" is, well, a fool and his money . . . .. Granted, if your daughter wants to go watch VB and/or women's soccer game, this is fantastic.

I normally never really care about this stuff but it is just such a swing and miss by the Husker staff.

If they are worried about a player leaving, well, that player was clearly looking to leave so it might not have been a great fit.

If they are worried about injuries, well, those might happen.

This is such a tone deaf move

Honestly I think some of the allure of the spring game was getting to see those hometown walk ons getting a chance to play in Memorial Stadium even if it is just a scrimmage. I enjoyed that and getting to see young players and maybe the QB of the future showing their stuff. I'll miss it but oh well. MLB opening day is coming up.

There are no more small town walkons with the 105 now.
