He looks very good. But it seems off to take two small backs in this class. We already have Nixon from last year sitting on the bench and these two seem to have the same skill set.

Uhh….6’0 is small for a RB? Also isn’t Nixon a WR?

I'm a bit skeptical, since he has zero Power 5 offers. I remember that Sevion Morrison rushed for like 5,000 yards in high school and beat Spencer Tillman's record, and yet didn't get offered by OU or Oklahoma State. So there's probably a reason nobody else has offered this kid as well. Sometimes high school stats don't mean much.

It's such a crapshoot. Ameer Abdullah comes to Nebraska because none of the Southern schools would let him play running back

The home state schools know those kids better than we do. Yet, we continue to bring these kids in anyway. Too small? Or can't learn the plays? Or a head case? Or simply not good enough to play in the Big 10? Sign them up!

Morrison, Chase, Houston, Hannah, Lynn, Fristzche, Wildeman, Alston. To name a few. None of those guys were wanted by home state schools- regardless of what their offer list says. And all of them had walk-ons beat them out by a clear margin.

Don’t know if being serious but unless your a power back, you don’t want to be tall @ RB. Some only believe in backs under 6 (obviously power backs are a different story).

But being lower to the ground and being able to hide behind the line is a major asset for RBs.

Look at the best, current and of all time, all under 6ft (excluding power backs)

current top - CMC, Cook, Kamara, Eckler all under 6 ft tall. (And there’s more)

top of all time- Barry, Emmitt, Walter all under 6 ft… Barry & Emmitt are 5’7- 5’8-ish

obviously this kid isn’t a power back so not too short…

it’s funny you’ll notice a lot of backs profiles with 5 11.5 profiles. You’ll never see any other spot that has a 5 11.5 height. They just round to 6 ft then. But stamp a 6 ft on a back that isn’t a muscle hamster, he’s going to turn some away… it pays to be short @ RB

Idk if you meant to respond to @headcard with this but all I was saying is that 6’0 is not small. I haven’t seen his tape yet so maybe he’s smaller than listed. Listed at 183 lbs, he would get here and add muscle so 6’0 205 lbs wouldn’t small.

I believe 5’10” - 5’11” is the ideal height for a RB, but obviously you can go a couple inches above or below that and easily be a superstar too. I’m more concerned with their gear shifting, vision, patience, wiggle, waggle, power and ball security.

His profile on the home page lists him at 5'11" if that makes you feel better. Film shows him as bigger than d backs he is playing against. Doesn't look that fast.

Oh. Gotcha.

I’ve watched his tape. The thing I like on him is is wiggle and ability to cut. He’s playing in a lower division in MN so this could have something to do with the hesitation of offers.

He may be too tall for some peoples likening at RB too.

But I liked his tape. Usually you see kids that are playing at lower levels and their tape is them just out running people. This kid really just has a knack of a good cut back and appears to have good vision.

He was Mr Minnesota football this year and I like the offer. We need backs badly. Our last 2 RB coaches were awful recruiters. I really like Ryan Held and think he’s an excellent guy but he just didn’t have it on recruiting. Nebraska should be an easy sell of backs and due to about 5-6 years of a lack of a good back, it’s becoming very difficult.

I mean did we just really TreVonte Citizen this week? Or was he just so disinterested in us at first he didn’t realize he had an offer? Either case is a problem

We need RBs so let’s take him. Can’t be picky when no one else wants to come here. We are literally going to have near 20 spots to fill after the spring, I just hope we are smart and don’t take 12-13 guys like the HOL staff talked about. That said, we will get like 15-16, and end up giving out 5-6 schollys to walk ons this fall.. bank it

Edit: because we will lose 8-10 more guys between now and end of spring…

Eric Dickerson at SMU back in the day was 6'3 and look what kind of beast he was!

I figured he was about 5'9".. didn't look that fast, but did have some nice cuts in his film. He didn't stand out to me too much, but can he catch the football? We really need to keep upgrading that position.

He's about as big as Sevion Morrison was when he came here from HS if his Rival dimensions are accurate.
