Neutral field, but it will be more like a home game for us. I look at this game much like the bowl game against Boston College, except Cincy is not as good as BC. As the Bear said, if you want to win, you have to first not beat yourself. I think we've patched some holes in the special teams and we're not going to "pull a Nebraska" in this one. We have experience in some key areas. Too many weapons, we score over 30 points and win by 2 TDs. NU -6 1/2.

I agree. The stadium will be full of Nebraska fans so it will be like a home game in terms of the crowd. Cincinnati has a dangerous dual threat QB but not much else. Still, we have struggled for years losing to teams we have no business losing to. But I agree with you about our special teams being much better and we have a pretty decent QB ourselves! I hope our defense flexes its muscles and really puts the hammer to these guys. That will send a message right out of the gate. I am really looking forward to this game.

cincy probably makes it interesting only because they go in unbeaten. huskers roll in the second half.

All this talk suddenly about how fast guys are in MPH terms.... is this the new version of "he moves around well?"

Hopefully it's not like the BC game and others where we get a good lead and then start making mistakes and let them make it a close game. Is it too much to ask for Nebraska to blow out a team for once and leave no doubt?

That's what we need to see for sure. It's time to stop playing close games against average and below-average teams.

First game. Three new coordinators and a lot of new faces.

A lot of new faces for Cinci too.

My firm prediction: Any GD thing is possible.

Just hoping the DL is stout, D scheme gets lotsa pressure on their QB, and DH’s offense establishes a solid run game and gets the most possible out of DR. If all that happens, many very good things will follow.

I wouldn’t call Hogorsen new coordinator. Was with us for 4 games last season.

This year, he's implementing his own offense. Last year, he stuck with Satterfield's system because he felt it would be easier for just him to learn the existing offense than to have over 100 players and the coaching staff learn an entirely new one in such a short time.

That's hearkening back to a different era of Husker football. What I'm talking about is the era where no matter what, the other team is gonna get a chance to win it at the end. In the BC game, we were up two scores. It was the stupid ***, never go live in practice, special teams that let them get the ball at the two on the blocked punt and cut it to a one score game. But then the offense did something that they had not done in years... they got the ball and went on a drive, running out the clock! That's progress in my book. The special teams shows a lot of improvement and that will shore up some things. Hopefully we'll be good enough to blow out a few teams like a Cincinnati.

Cincinnati will either win by 1 or 2 or LOSE by 17+. I think with a quick start this game can get away from Cinci. I'm thinking Colorado like atmosphere "on the road". I got good guys 31-14.

I’m not taking the bait that Cincinnati isn’t very good, those days are long gone we can’t take any team for granted, seeing is believing like the defense letting opponents off the hook when it’s third and long, I want more three and outs, i want the offensive line making pancake blocks to spring the running backs, I want down field blocking by the receivers. more Touchdowns in the red zone and stop missing make able field goals. Until I see more consistency in not taking any opponent as a win until we’re in the lead and the end of the game

I don't mind Severe but I am not sure he is right anymore than anyone else is. He has a lot of stats and can make those numbers say a lot of different things. I am pretty sure he stated Nebraska was going to win 8 games. The line may get closer, but down to 4 would indicate huge money on Cincinnati.

Yeah, that would be some big time movement and big wagers.

I don't know what to think yet. But I do know I will bet on NU!!! Ha

He’s a Nebraska hater, big lsu guy I could care less what he says
"Couldn't care less". (Sorry, I have almost no pet peeves, just kids, marriage, girls that think boob jobs are gross, people that love the environment, smokers, non-smokers, vapors, people that won't drink cheap beer...and people that say "could care less", and guys that cry after sex, which I why I am my own pet peeve)

But anyway, he is not really a Husker hater he is just not a Husker homer, in my opinion there is a difference.

I also believe this will be a close game. We have not beat a Power 5 (4) team for an opener since we beat Oklahoma St in 2003. Granted most of the openers were not Power 5 (4) but still.

The line is 6.5 and I think it will be a 1 score game and I truely hope we win it for a change.

Gonna be 1 hell of a speech at half time to get them out of a funk. GBR.

P.S. By all means prove me completely wrong and win by 21.

I like Severe but the only way his opinion on the line is credible is if he's just repeating something Fezzik or another Vegas guy said on a podcast. Probably someone in Vegas knows a group that's going to lay a large bet on Cincy. The thing about that is that there's often someone else laying big on the other side that no one knows about so then the line doesn't move. If Severe is making this line prediction on his own, then he's just guessing.

Hell in the end it is all just a big guess.

Our history over the past decade in openers says this will be a tough game. We're only 4-6 in openers over this period, and two of those wins (Arkansas State and South Alabama) were still in doubt heading into Q4. Only two decisive wins in the last 10 openers - 2016 against Fresno state and last year against UTEP - both of which were really bad teams.
