Well, the Minnesota game was one of our "better" losses. It was a long time ago so I doubt it amounts to a hill of beans Wednesday night but wasnr RU up 7 at one point in the second half?

Minnesota turned us over many times in our earlier game. They are among the leading teams in the nation in forcing turnovers. If we can take care of the ball maybe we can hang with them. It would be nice to finish the season after getting at least one more win.

Ok I lied.. Went back and checked.. RU never led at Minnesota.

They hit a whole bunch of 3s though and scored 26 points off RU turnovers.

Minnesota is looking for a NIT bid and likes to score a lot of points, RU is looking to put the basketballs away and cannot shoot or play defense. I do not envision a positive outcome.

I think we actually trailed something like 24-8 or something hideous like that to start the game.

Yup, you're right. All the losses are blending together at this point. I was thinking of the game before Minnesota - the first Maryland game- when RU actually had a lead deep into the second half.

The biggest lead was 25-12 but RU tied it at 29-29, and RU stayed within striking distance thereafter. I said it at the time and I will say again that the officiating in that game was horrendous, as evidenced by the announcers several times noting that RU was getting the short end of the stick and not once making the same observation in the other direction. (This and Wisc. were the only two really badly called Big 10 games I saw this year.)

They had one guy who went off, shooting 7-10 from three with several well covered, but the rest of the team was 3-18. On a neutral court, I like this matchup better than Nebraska.

Nebraska wasn't an option going into tonight, actually. If Nebraska beat Maryland, RU would have been matched up with Northwestern.

Surprisingly after miserable seasons, we have always played well in the conference tourney openers dating back to big east days, wouldn't surprise me if we actually won on Wednesday

This may be the Rutgers-Minnesota matchup that was talked about as turning on zero TV Sets in Long Island.

Although I think they were talking about football.

at some point in the game they will full court press for extended period of time, I hope EJ tells them to attack it. and hope we do the same ...two games now with good stretches ,albeit in garbage time, where the pressure was somewhat effective. why not.

RU fans remember that movie well.

anyone want to say that RU is playing Minny with house money and nothing to lose on Wednesday ? Me neither.

the coming offseason may be more interesting than the season we just played.

It looks like we can't wait for the season to end. I'd be surprised if we are competitive.

I watched Penn St beat Minn yesterday.

It was a dogfight and PSU won on a 3pointer at the final buzzer. Both teams scrapped from the opening buzzer.

If we play the way he have been playing it will be another blowout and RIP to the season.

RU had more competitive fire and were buying in the last time they played Minnesota. They were coming off of a win over Wisconsin and probably their best overall game of the year at Maryland losing in the final few minutes. The problem in the vast majority of the losses is the game is over at the 10 minute mark of the first half. Lots of blame to go around for that

Hard to argue with that, unfortunately. Anyone who thinks RU will win is, as they say in the weather threads on the football board, "wishcasting."

So true. We find ourselves trailing by double digits midway through the opening half of practically every game. For once, I'd like to see us jump out to 10-point lead and have the opponent have to scratch its way back into the game.

For all those who say that the team had nothing to play for, well here we are, fresh start, every team is 0-0. Good test for EJ to show us that this team has fight and has gotten better from the beginning of the year. Lets see hart and scrappy play today.

Pride is what this team can show in the Tourney and expect to win each game they play in it , before game starts
Hope they don't show the give up attitude many RU fans have shown this season and share that attitude before every game RU plays.

So who will RU be playing when they beat Minny
.
