wins over South Alabama, Northern Illinois and Illinois. They lost to Colorado.

But they are hosting Gameday. I guess it's good to have some history from about 20 years ago.

Not a great slate of games, plus there is some intrigue around the fact Ohio State has lost a game similar to this one to an unranked team each of the last few years (Penn State in ‘16, Iowa in ‘17, Purdue last year).

The reason it's a light slate this weekend isn't because of the 2 bye weeks, it's because about 6 teams hoard all the talent in the country & beat the 17 out of everyone.

I mean, CBS is going to televise a 63-10 game. What an awful structure to a sport

Those teams beat the 17 out of everyone because they have superior coaching AND superior talent. They have superior talent because their superior coaches are also really good at recruiting. Florida State, Michigan, LSU, Texas, USC, Penn State, Texas A & M, Florida, Miami, Notre Dame and probably a few others have the history, fan base, budget and recruit in the upper 10% and don’t win like Clemson, Bama, and Oklahoma have for the past few years. Every program is a retirement, wrong hire or right hire away from their worst or best years in a long time. It’s not about hoarding all the talent.

Yep. And every College Gameday, there’s a “what’s wrong with Tennessee, USC, etc.” segment. Even when you suck for years, they still flood valuable airtime with segments devoted to the big name programs in lieu of giving exposure to smaller market programs that are punching above their weight class. It’s infuriating.

I figure the blue chips are behind this pay for play thing. When it comes to straight cash homie, we can't hang.

This would be the week to go somewhere obscure like they have done on occassion. NEB is a 17pt dog at home.

What's wrong with USC or Texas is a legitimate talking point. There's no reason they shouldn't be top 10 every year. What's wrong with Tennessee and Nebraska is the game has changed and they've been left behind to an extent. I don't see them ever being a year-in-year-out national contender again.

Except they still devote significant airtime to Tennessee and Nebraska. The bottom line is that teams should earn their airtime. Devote the most discussion to the biggest games between the best teams. 3 of the 4 teams above have not played in a regular or postseason game with national title implications in over a decade. And Texas only has because they play Oklahoma every year and beat them a few times. They themselves haven’t been overly relevant either until just recently.
