Things can improve dramatically with the right coach. Just look at how our defense improved from pathetic in 2007 to great in 2009. Pelini just couldn't sustain it because of poor recruiting.Great Memories , not the reality we are faced with today.
There is nothing that would indicate we ever be anything but the Big's doormat. Most won't like that statement, but you have rose colored glasses if you think this things turning around any time soon.
Every off season we think a great revelantion will occur only to have that bubble burst the first game of the year.
Bring in a good coach and things can turn around very quickly. This has been proven time and again.Great Memories , not the reality we are faced with today.

What's scary is that we were about to get even faster. What’s sad is how much faster the team from 1988 looks compared to now.
Like it or not, we are stuck with this clown for awhile. We would have to pay Frost 22M to go away.Bring in a good coach and things can turn around very quickly. This has been proven time and again.
Naturally of courseWhat's scary is that we were about to get even faster.
Since Osborne, we only really tried 1 time, and that was with Frost(which turned to be a total failure and high risk in hindsight with only a 1 year wonder). All the other tries, we were too cheap and timid to go after solid proven coaches and took big risks with unproven college HCs.Like it or not, we are stuck with this clown for awhile. We would have to pay Frost 22M to go away.
Even if they Fire Scott, hiring a new Coach that can turn this around s not a guarantee. Heck we've tried 5 coaches since Osborne .
OK's close proximity to Dallas metroplex probably doesn't hurt. Not to be a smartass.
Other than the great tradition, why would you expect NE to be especially good at football over the long term? Or why any better than, say, KS or IA? ....Not a ton of population in any of these states. HS football is probably not what it once was. And tt's probably a tough to recruit kids from CA or FL like back in the old days when NE on top of the world.
I guess if you wanted to look at an outlier as a role model, you might look at OK. To be honest, OKs continued relevance is somewhat surprising.
