Interesting fact. I believe North Moore and Andrews have met only once, NM's only meeting with a Smokey Mountain Conference team, in the state 1A playoffs back in the early 90s. That Mustang team rolled up over 300 yards rushing in a blowout win. This version from Robbins is a rushing machine as well, though now it's a modified veer option as opposed to a wishbone and Power-I.

You haven’t played anyone. Only 3 teams with barely over .500 records the rest were losing records. Come play in the SMC then get back with me

Be some long bus rides…😂😂😂
Also I don’t really think NM88 was besmirching the “good name” of the SMC. Thought he simply stated that North Moore had only played one SMC team ever and what the result of that particular matchup was. Also think he said offense was different now than it was then.
I could be wrong though. Maybe he will post again soon and clarify things.
If he can get some cell service down that way 😂

North Moore also came up to Hayesville in the first round in the early 2000s. It was the last time Hayesville won the SMC, and they won by about 50. But then got upset the next week.

Lord no. I meant no disrespect whatsoever. I covered 1A and 2A football as an AP sports writer for 21 years before entering construction. I've watched NM, Tarboro, Mitchell, and Andrew's this year. NMs as good as Mitchell and Andrew's, but, despite having the state's top defense, is 21-30 behind Tarboro. Don't recall the Hayesville playoff game; however, that would have come during one of the "everybody in" years. NM's only runs in football were in the 87-95 years and 21-22. There were also a couple or three years in the 20xxs and when Cam Thomas was there. All's good....but Andrew's is also in that 21-30 point underdog to Tarboro. Too many studs out the eastern side of Hwy 64 for either team.

It’s all good. I thought you were getting a little dig in on the Wildcats stating the 300 rushing yds and BLOWOUT win from a game probably 30 years ago ! Why was this even brought up in this post ? With Andrews and NM being undefeated as of now I read into it as a dig. No problem and good luck the rest of the season

You’re correct. I looked it up and it was a year NM made the playoffs with two wins. It’s also crazy to look at the brackets from those years and see how far east the west went. Lakewood, Union, Hobbton all in that west bracket.

2003 Brackets

Also looks like North Moore-Andrews was 2d round in ‘89. Andrews came in 4th in the SMC that year but upset a conference champ Elkin team in the first round to get their date with North Moore, which North Moore won 27-14.

1989 was when NM played Andrews. Mustangs won 27-14. NM fell to St. Pauls the following week in the thrid round, 14-0. Mustangs finished 7-6 that season. I am thinking Jim Hicks was the head coach.

Fast forwarding to 2022, I am thinking NM is running the Double Wing, kinda similar to what Central Davidson. I could be wrong, but heck, it ain't the first time!!! Heck, I am NOT a "Xs and Os" person! I just wonder if Coach Carrouth is his own OC and DC or what? He has that "RPO" (running people over) going on over there!
