Now the NCAA is punishing a kid for , get this, actually going to class. Incoming NC state freshman Braxton Beverly had originally enrolled in summer classes at Ohio State to get a jump on his college courses. Then Thad Matta and staff were fired. Beverly decided to withdraw his commitment to Ohio St and play for NC state. Now the NCAA is making him sit out a year as a transfer because he actually attended some classes at OSu. Reward the ones that don't go to class and punish the ones that do. Way to go NCAA......class act you are.

This happened a couple weeks ago- it’s insane. The reason I dated your example is because there are two fresh examples I read about yesterday. A kid from Oakland and a Kid from Colorado. The kid from Oakland is due to graduate in December and yet the NCAA ruled him indeligible and sighted that the reason was bc he wasn’t on pace for earning his degree. Yet he’s on pace to graduate early. Can’t make this **** up. The kid from Colorado- they’re punishing him for failing his freshman year. What’s that? Oh no not college, high school- he had to repeat freshman year of high school bc of family issues and didn’t complete high school in the required time and so he’s been ruled non compliant. He’s otherwise a very good student.

I read those same stories. How bad does it have to get before action is taken against the brain dead morons of the NCAA? Punishing kids who are doing the RIGHT thing is unbelievable.

Where's our boy Jay Bilas? Has anyone heard if he's took a public stance yet?
He was out in front when Johnson from Pitt wanted to transfer, and he should be beating the drum harder. Has he? When I check ESPN on my phone, I've seen nothing about this, and nothing from him either.
I'll bet anyone $100 to a busted rubber that had this been Carolina...never mind.

I haven't seen him comment on the two most recent allegations, but he's been tweeting about Beverly for a couple weeks already. Here are two of his tweets from the last 24 hours on the matter.

I hope so. Just until today, hadn't heard anything. I realize State isn't the program unc is, and I hope I see him on ESPN publicly criticizing this ridiculous ruling. I stand corrected. Rip them a new one Jay, and on tv please.

Is there something we can do about this? What kind of social media campaign against the NCAA needs to happen? That seems to be the way to bring people down these days.

Jay Bilas hates the NCAA more than DevilDJ hates UNC. And that's a lot, for those scoring at home.

NCAA is a joke. You are only safe if you are a part of whatever elite club unc is obviously a part of. They should just lawyer up. Maybe that will get them to back down.

My first thought is just....wow.
This is so stupid, I thought it was going to se some kind of joke when I started reading it. Again.....WOW. There has to be at least one person in that organization that realizes how brain dead this makes them look.

You're right about all of it except for the lawyering up part, that probably wouldn't have helped State. In a nutshell, if this was Carolina, this kid would be playing now. I'll even go as far as saying if this was Carolina, this would have been a big story, not somewhat talked about on the bottom of the sports page.

Oh I have no doubt that if he was transferring to unx, he would instantly be cleared to play.

There's obvious media biases that exist....hard for anyone to deny that claim. But relatively-speaking, these are bottom of the sports wire kind of stories. Yes, if UNC was involved it'd be bigger, just as if Duke or UK were involved it would also be bigger. I don't think it's something mutually exclusive to UNC, though. In fact, I kind of wish it would happen at a place like UNC, Duke or UK....it would at least get people talking about it more and put some pressure on the NCAA. When it's these low-tier schools it often times gets swept under the rug as if it ever happened.

Agreed always a bigger story in OUR STATE if the holes are involved. They have the political and media establisment behind them in OUR STATE. Certainly their ties at ESPN do not lessen their influence either. Thats just the way it is... OFC

So all throughout the UNCHeat scandal, people were saying that the NCAA had no choice but to punish UNCHeat severely in order to save itself. Something about another case... Jenkins case maybe?? Since they handed down no punishment does that mean the NCAA is doomed or is it business as usual?
