Can't be happy if your marland. 4'seed on kentuckys side. Weren't they ranked 8th this past week.
LSU a 9 is a surprise. ..Lunardi had them in the play on game....Ole Miss should be worried as either they or Temple is out. Boise in!
Wow UCLA is in.....Huge surprise and not even in the play in game....shocking...awful based on their record vs top 50/100
Love how Portland and Seattle are games in the south and Jacksonville is a game in the west.

Thought Wichita and northern Iowa both could have been higher seeds. Also not really feeling Kansas as a 2 seed.

Agree...the Missouri Valley was dissed...penalized for not being good overall this year

definitely were thrown a lifeline...they only beat Utah and Oregon all year...best OOC win was Long Beach State....5-10 vs top 100, 2-8 vs top 50 and a woeful 4-12 road/neutral. One interesting thing that the committee may have looked at was that the Bruins did beat two other schools that qualified for the NCAA in Coastal Carolina and UAB..those kind of sneaky wins give them some points in the end. A school like Temple did beat Kansas and Cincy but no one else.
If I am not mistaken, they said it was Duke's 20th straight bid.
I looked up to see if Rutgers 24 year shutout is a record, but it is not.

That shot of Kansas when their spot was revealed was about as subdued a reaction as I can remember. I was like where's the cheer but then I thought they must be unhappy being on the other side of Kentucky's bracket.
Coastal Carolina, Northeastern and SMU from that list are all in it this year....and La Salle made the sweet 16 a few years back. I believe the coach on that Jacksonville team in 1986 was none other than Bob Wenzel
The committee chair told Andy Katz that had UConn won, Dayton would have been out. With all do respect to the committee members, that is insane.
It is clear that this committee valued who you played over everything else, which means P5 teams got in and the mid-majors had to sweat more than anyone thought. So next year, if Colorado St wants to make the NCAA, they should join the PAC12.
wow that is insane...Dayton was a bucket away from beating VCU for the A10 championship and note that they did beat Ole Miss earlier this year. Sure they don't have a strong profile but its apparent that SOS is huge to the committee
oh and I think that ESPN guys like Lunardi have an agenda to push during bracketology. As the top bracketologist, many of the talking heads take their cues from him. There was a myth that schools like Purdue were in serious trouble..even after finishing 4th and getting a bye in the Big 10 tourney. That could not be further from the truth. Ditto for Indiana who Lunardi had out and it turned out as a 10 seed, they were not even one of the last 6 in the field. Both were safely in the field. A little anti Big 10 bias by ESPN and also note that Lunardi is a big pro A10 school every year overvaluing their seeds and spots around the bubble.

I agree that these bracketologists have an agenda. I have been following both Lunardi and NBC's and it' amazing how similar the brackets were at top end. Yet the last 4 in (or 5 in NBCs case) there were major differences. They are all looking at the same info.
have you seen any noted outlets who got the entire field correct. Palm had one wrong like I did, Lunardi 2, I saw several outlets including SI, Sbnation who had Georgia out of the tournament completely which I thought was really off base since they were a 10 seed in the end.
I haven't really followed up. Great job by you, especially when you consider how far off most of the experts were on some of these teams. Most had Indiana, and Texas as last 4 in types and teams like Dayton solidly in the field. Now, as I've said, I think the back end of this at-large pool is basically 12 versions of the same team. None really "deserve" to be in but most could win a game or two. But I don't remember a year where so many projected "bubble" teams were solidly in and teams that most experts thought were in were much closer to the bubble (or the other side) than predicted.
