6th in the B1G. I’d take that considering the top 3 are all national championship contenders. Nebraska obviously the surprise team of the conference and I’m not sold on Illinois chemistry, but they’ve played a really hard schedule. We’ve played a relatively easy schedule so far.

11 now! You can't ask for a better start to the McCollum era all things considered.
Ben McCollum is now 41-6 or 7 in his first 47 or 48 Division 1 games as a head coach.

Maybe couldn't have asked for better, but with his resume, its certainly not all that surprising.

Couple little things going right instead of wrong, and the Hawks are 11-1 right now and have a Q1 win over a Top5 team in their own house.

Coach is doing this with former D2 and MVC players. Imagine what he could do with a roster that has better overall talent & athleticism.

The Calvary absolutely will be coming. Just going to enjoy this bonus introductory season.

I'm honestly a little surprised they're that high with no quad 1 wins yet, but I'm not complaining. :)
McCollum is the master of making the most of the NET he openly talks about it. I believe him now. Lol...Our D metrics being elite thus far is largely why. Fran had our O top notch but D was subpar or bad and that hurts the metrics.

Very good start for Ben and co.
I do feel confident that the Hawks will do fine vs teams at or below our net rating.
Now, reserving judgement on how they contend with the giant teams like illini,mich,pu...and we already saw MSU.

I do think that our edge could be the team work angle with all the drake transfers.
Good news is we only lose 2 guys next year and only one from the drake crew.( Stirtz,Hausen)
Bad news is that guy is stirtz, best player.
But I do like he rest of the returners and have hopes that Thompson and Ethan Harris can help.

UCLA and at Minny are 2 games we need.

3-1 in BIG with Illinois coming to Carver talk about a huge opportunity

Grand Canyon and Ole Miss wins slid up to Tier 2 level (as of 12/23). I think those were all lumped into Tier 3 for awhile.

Fran is doing at Penn what he did at Iowa. Glad he is there.

Along with the fact that Iowa regularly beat teams by 20 under Fran than the NET said they should win be 35+. That hurt metrics too.

UCLA has a lot of quad 1 games left, so they'll have plenty of opportunity to climb if they can win some of those.

Grand Canyon is at 66 - not sure if they can get there, but that would also become quad 1 if they can reach 50 (neutral court game).
