just watched the local 10 pm local news in the twin cities. Weather forecast has gotten worse for this Saturday.....kickoff 33 degrees, NW wind gusting to 35, snowing with some accumulation. I won't be going now. Suggest everyone bring extra clothing, cover everything but your eyes. The BANK can be one of the worst places to watch a game when the wind is westerly from the open end. Stay warm everone.

Have this funny feeling the stronger offensive line is going to come out on top in winning this game...

Very concerned that they will have a better power running game than NU..

You’ve mentioned this in several different threads... here are some rushing numbers for Minnesota:

137 rushing yards against SDSU
148 rushing yards against Fresno State
93 rushing yards against Georgia southern
94 rushing yards against Purdue
333 rushing yards against Illinois

Maybe they finally figured something out against Illinois. Or maybe Illinois sucks. But those stats don’t scream capable line to me. They may be big, but that doesn’t mean they are good. These stats tell a different story.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure their stadium runs east-west and has an open end on the west side. So a strong NW wind is going to play havoc on a passing game. If we were playing in the Metrodome I’d like our chances, but in a slobber knocker ground it out game that these conditions will likely cause???

Man eff you guys. My Sister lives in AR and tells me all about it.

If it makes you feel any better we're getting a cold front with rain right now. Going to be a chilly 41F tomorrow morning.

Yuck, I'm glad I'm not in the DFW area anymore. It's gonna be a slightly chilly early morning here in Tucson tomorrow, but it should reach 70F by tee off (9 am). Should be a beautiful day.

I'm hot natured. We've had a never ending summer this year and I need a break. I don't mind a dip in the temps. I grew up in the upper midwest and was always taking off my jacket.

Going to the ASU game Saturday. Worried about sunburn with the 12:30 kickoff and 85 degree temp.

The nasty wind is going to also affect the kicking game which I would think benefits NU.

I love Fall temps and football weather, it's too hot in AZ and I couldn't be paid enough to live in CA (& I am a freaking Democrat!). It does look a little nasty for the game Saturday but I'm still glad cooler temperatures are finally here!

Yep. Bad weather favors Minnesota here, I think. But only in the running game. On the other hand, they do have better receivers than we do and this neutralizes that advantage.
I don’t see either team grinding out long drives in this weather. It will come down to big plays. We need Wandale and Mo to have big games. The wind also cancels their advantage in the kicking game.
I just hope we get ahead early and build a small cushion. Because I predict we will miss an extra point which could cost us the game.

Nebraska runs the ball better than Minnesota. And the Gophers desperately need to get the ball to their receivers. Those guys are all excellent athletes.

Bad weather favors Nebraska. And if we are being honest, no weather favors Nebraska's kicking game.

And one more thing:

Its been colder in Lincoln than Minneapolis all week until late Thursday. Im betting the media is going to make a big deal about Fleck preparing his team for the weather by tying dry ice to their balls. The Huskers have actually been dealing with colder weather already.

I agree that no weather favors our wretched kicking game. But 30 mph winds can neutralize to a great extent their advantage here. But, as I said, I do worry about a missed extra point costing us the game.

Overall we run the ball better. But between the tackles? I doubt it. And on a really bad weather day where jump cuts might be limited by the conditions, I think the team with the better power game has the advantage. I think that is Minnesota. But maybe I am wrong here. What is your comparison of the two power games Cornicator?

No doubt. The Huskers chances in a 16-13 type game seem highly improbable.

But make no mistake, Minnesota needs to throw the football. That is their strength. They will try to establish the run, but its a very pedestrian run game, and The Huskers will have the best run defense the Gophers have faced all season.

Love your optimism about our ability to shut down their offense.

How often do we even practice outside? I know early in the year we were inside for the most part perhaps we have increased practice time outside once the season started.

Nebraska is a better running team outside the tackles and 2AM getting his yards... I think the Gophers are much better running teams between The tackles that is just from what I have seen watching us and Minnesota’s last 2 games..

Yeah I agree. It was funny as a St. Paul writer was on one of the radio shows. He was saying how they limited Rondale Moore. Well he only played a 1/2 of a quarter. Also, Minny has either played the backup QB or a very very new starter in every game. Not saying we are going to win because we have our own issues, but the competition they've run through is suspect. In the B1G, it was Purdue with their starting QB and best player essentially out all game. Illinois their starting QB got knocked out and then their O Coordinator abandoned Corbin in the 2nd half. I guess we will see how good this team is. Yes they have great WR's. Can they get the ball in the elements?

Not sure about that. They have a couple NFL WR's and, with the exception of last week, have struggled to run the ball. Our WR core without JD is nothing to write home about and we might be playing a backup QB. Our running game can be diverse and explosive, if we can eliminate bad snaps and TO's.

Worse it gets out there the better chance we have imo. Especially due to some of our guys being questionable, bad weather will help slow down their receivers. Plus their special teams is almost as bad as ours so the bad weather will neutralize this area.

The key will be if Mr.Washington can take a couple home, like he did in the Colorado game. When he steps up that alleviates some stress from our lackluster wr play.

Its going to come down to yet again who can hold onto the ball and make less mistakes. Besides Ohio St our line has done very well against the run. Lets face it MN is no Ohio St. So I think the weather actually favors us.
