On the Penn St roster that see no path to meaningful mat time and so might consider portal moves.
He's a temperamental dude but he'd do just fine for us at 133. I recall a couple other former Hawks with some impulse control issues over the years.no thanks on Davis.
If the goal is to catch PSU, not sure how chasing their cast offs that can't make their lineup helps Iowa close in on them? They passed on Iowa, now Iowa should pass on them imo.

If their castoffs can still score more than our starters and you aren't getting them, then another school is getting them, beating your guy on the podium, and you are even further behind than you started. If the goal is to catch PSU, not sure how chasing their cast offs that can't make their lineup helps Iowa close in on them? Is the kid that transferred from Minny still on their roster? I don’t see him breaking into the lineupOn the Penn St roster that see no path to meaningful mat time and so might consider portal moves.
True, but a lot of ifs in that statement. Recruit highschoolers to take over the starting spots at weak weights. I like that way better. Load up on talent and let it sort itself out weight and talent wise in the room. This is the long term fix. Easier said than done, but there are no easy quick fixes to Iowa's problems currently. It will take Taylor 3 or 4 years too.If their castoffs can still score more than our starters and you aren't getting them, then another school is getting them, beating your guy on the podium, and you are even further behind than you started.
Nagao? He medically retired from the sportIs the kid that transferred from Minny still on their roster? I don’t see him breaking into the lineup
Ahhh thanks for the info.Nagao? He medically retired from the sport
I agree that the Brands could easily manage it. And I feel in love with Iowa wrestling because of those type of guys. But...the new crop of elite wrestlers do not seem to like it. That is my issue. See the JayBo tweet from the past weekend. He's a temperamental dude but he'd do just fine for us at 133. I recall a couple other former Hawks with some impulse control issues over the years.
My guess is he's headed to Michigan.

Too simplistic point of view.If the goal is to catch PSU, not sure how chasing their cast offs that can't make their lineup helps Iowa close in on them? They passed on Iowa, now Iowa should pass on them imo.
I agree. I think the only reason people talk about the antics is because the holier than thou attitude some PSU fans have so other fanbases use it to talk bs to them. All those ragging on Davis...has anything he's done on the mat been worse than DeSanto in his earlier years? Honestly, to me both guys "antics" on the mat were largely nothingburgers.
Others have mentioned Kasak to 165 after MM is done next year - but who knowsKasak?
I supposed Duke could redshirt next year?
Maybe, but other than Sealey I don't see any chance with any others and I am just fine with that. The Miserola brother at 197 and Desmond would be solid, but they ain't coming to Iowa.Too simplistic point of view.
I thought the prevailing wisdom was PJ redshirt next year, Kasak back in the lineup at 157 and PJ takes over 165 after MM graduates.Others have mentioned Kasak to 165 after MM is done next year - but who knows

Davis, Desmond, Pierce, Sealey, Mirasola.
Desmond has a path to the starting line-up. He probably was a better option at 141 this year if he wanted to burn his redshirt year being an undersized true freshman. The kid has dog in him. Both Mirasolas
Davis
Desmond
Nasdeo
Perry
Pierce
Sealey
has there been any further news on Ono's eligibility? that could have an impact on a guy like desmond and his path to startingDesmond has a path to the starting line-up. 2 years last i heard.has there been any further news on Ono's eligibility? that could have an impact on a guy like desmond and his path to starting
I'd guess Desmond would prevail over Ono in a folkstyle match. The mat game isn't so easy for lifetime freestylers.
I heard one? When did that change ?2 years last i heard.
Last I heard was in January that they got 2 years.I heard one? When did that change ?
He heard it while at practice in Iowa City.I heard one? When did that change ?
