I feel like we had some surprises last week. We'll see what happens this week.

Elkin at West Wilkes

Elkin is playing North tonight. West Wilkes came pulled out of Longtown Rd with a huge win over the Rams while appearing to be a much improved team. They'll be pumped and will come out solid early, but Elkin won't be phased by the short week and will foil the hopes of West big.

Ashe at East Wilkes

Both teams are coming off dominate victories. East saw some light offensively. They'll come back to earth this week. Ashe jumps up quick and doesn't look back.

Alleghany at Wilkes Central

Both teams got hammered last week in disappointing performances. Alleghany slows Central down some, but not enough.

Starmount at North Wilkes

North Wilkes has a short week. The Rams are coming off a bad loss to West. They seem to be struggling to get it going. They'll struggle again but manage to win pushing North closer to the cellar.

Winston-Salem Prep at Mount Airy

Mount Airy is rolling. Prep is back on earth. It stays that way.

Bishop at South Stokes

South Stokes has struggled against the top dogs. Bishop is coming off a big win over North Stokes. South Stokes plays good football for a dominant defense for the victory in this one.

North Stokes vs East Surry

North Stokes lost a game they probably should have won. East Surry is getting back to form. This one gets ugly, and ugly quick.

North is pretty good. A lot of people will get hammered by reidsville. The only one is struggling vs bishop, but still won in a blowout

If the Alleghany squad that showed up against East Wilkes it won't matter who is at qb for wilkes central. That was the worst game I've seen us play in years. Defense didn't know where to line up at times and with our coach playing musical chairs with the quarterbacks it's hard for anyone to get into a rhythm. Plus in my opinion constantly switching quarterbacks sometimes mid drives can really affect their confidence. I've always believed pick a quarterback and stick with it....kinda like a wife...for better or for worse lol. I've never known a 2 quarterback system to thrive. I hope we stick with the better passer of the two quarterbacks and just ride with them.

I agree with the 2 QB system. Hard to establish a game flow. If you want to incorporate that, why not put them both on the field together in the gun some plays with 1 being more of a running back assuming he's fast.

Last Week was defiantly interesting for sure. Saw some big surprises.

WW vs Elkin

I know Starmount is down, but that was a huge win for WW last week, historical in there context. Those kids are playing hard for the new coach, and seem to be improving each week. With that said, Elkin is a different animal from Starmount. The Elks take this one.

Ashe vs EW

East responded to the doubters, myself included and hammered Alleghany last week. Young team that also seems to be improving, but too much Ashe in this one.

Alleghany vs WC

Both teams were hammered last week, and WC will limp into this one, having lost several skill kids at Ashe. Not sure if WC QB will play or not and Alleghany will be big and physical. They always seem to give the Eagles fits. I think that trend will continue this year. WC takes this one.

NW vs Starmount

Short week for North and Starmount is coming off an ugly loss. IMO Starmount desperately needs to win this football game. Both teams are struggling on offense, and look for this one to be a low scoring affair. Starmount in a nail bitter.

Bishop seems to be playing hard, just not enough talent. SS isnt much better, but I will defiantly take Coach Diamont in this one.

I think North Wilkes has a really go shot at a W this week. Alleghany last week shocked me I really thought it would be a closer game than it was. Its also crazy how just taking out the QB for WC changes them so much. He could keep other teams D honest with us pure dual threat ability.

When he comes out they lose their ability to throw the ball and it seems like they also lose most of the playbook, not sure if the coaching staff trusts the sophomore. We have been very very Morrison left and Morrison right, recently.

Elkin over West Wilkes


New coach is doing wonders for West but they just don't have the horses to hang with the Elks in a fast scoring track meet. Elkin needs to come ready to play from the first snap or else it will be a long night because West isn't the team to let hang around. Elkin came out rough vs NW before waking up.. they can't afford that this week because West is so much better.





Ashe over East Wilkes


East is trying to find their ID right now with a lot of youngesters and is in the boat Ashe was last year when they had some growing pains. Ashe can't sleep on East but they just have too many horses.. the pass game is looking good and Peterson's back to being himself again which is too much a load for anyone around here to handle. Ashe by a nice wad. I hope this is a series that will continue in non conference.




WC over Alleghany


WC is a mess right now but they are playing hard despite all that. Alleghany has a very stubborn team but hasn't had the breaks they need.. something has to give here. Wouldn't be surprised with an Alleghany upset at all here .. Alleghany's always played WC the hardest in this conference. They almost pulled off an upset 5 years ago in a similar spot; maybe it's their time. If they can't stop Morison it won't matter.





Starmount over North Wilkes


Looks like Grinton's struggles are going on again in Boonville.. they let one slip last week they shouldn't have and that was a major hurt for their momentum. NW is desperate for any momentum as they are fighting to stay out of the basement like I figured they would be.. they have overperformed my expectation a bit. That EW game was a triumph with the talent that is there.. if they can play like that tomorrow they can have a chance but it will take a perfect effort. Starmount just has more horses.








MA over WS Prep


MA can't afford to let themselves be distracted by East just yet; Prep has the horses to gash Mount Airy. It is possible to do if you have you have a solid passing offense and Prep does. The difference however is physicality.. Prep just isn't there at all yet. I was very disappointed with their lack of effort on the line vs South.. yes they were beat up but the 4 star kid was really lazy getting off the ball and it was disappointing to watch. For a kid that hyped it was extremely embarrassing . However after last week Prep perhaps got their eyes opened; if not it will be a long night as this MA team is very physical and they want to hit.. makes a major difference.








South Stokes over Bishop


I wouldn't so freely insult South like a few others have done on here.. they are extremely banged up and facing a lot of headaches. Dave's been making the most out of what they have the past 2 weeks despite everything but I expect things to get better for them the next few weeks. This week they play a hard to figure Bishop team that finally woke up for a shock win last week.. I wasn't expecting that. South better be woke theirselves or else it could happen again. When push comes to shove Dave's a better coach than Jones is and will have them woke for the occasion.










East Surry over North Stokes


I also wouldn't overlook N Stokes either.. granted East us a universe away in terms of talent but Sessoms has always hyped these kids up for the Pilot Cards in the past and they have been some surprises before. I don't see it being close at all but I wouldn't be surprised if NS scores 20 on East if the Cards slack off. Their game with South in 2 weeks will be closer than what it has been in a while.

I really don’t see north stokes putting 20 on east surry , I think people saw Reidsville take it to them , but Reidsville brought back a team that took East to the limit last season, everyone knew that would be revenge for Reidsville
Reidsville will win 2a title again this season also , if I’m correct east scored 14 on them and since then no one has scored zip

I don't know how the NW will end up but East blew ws prep out last week but Prep will show up one week be nonexistent the next Mt Airy offense was bad tonight didn't play well at all couldn't catch the ball high snaps plagued the team just wasn't sharp but still won 33 to 6 to date I feel Mt Airy played there best game against Canton Pisgah in a 7 point losing effort

Bears were extremely inconsistent on offense last night. ( still Yawning from the game, bore fest) High snaps every third play and the offense line got OWNED. Defense showed up but with that being said lots of work in the secondary needed. Slash was right in that regard , prep was able to throw it around with ease at times. Defensive line lived in the back field but again with that being said when the qb was out of the pocket he was able to be very successful throwing the ball around. LOTs of work to do. On the Bright side the Bears were able to win a ball game on their worst night in front of the entire East Surry coaching staff on the fence and half the team in the stands with the prep fans. Big game in two weeks for a conference championship , Final one for particular conference. Much better team against Pisgah that I saw. Either way this is an extremely young football team with a lot of talent in the pipeline, Bears will be really good in the fall, Freshman class is the best since the days of Wheeler and Dobson. East and Bears will be a great game between two pretty equal teams in my opinion.

East does not bring the passing game they had for sure , screen play still decent , still can throw the long ball with a couple long receivers, I think their defense is the best d they have had in years with Whitt and baker on the line they will push most any team , I think the pisgah game has given the thought they are better than they are right now the Reidsville blowout should not give anyone the assumption East is not very stout
