I assumed that Union county Ga would be playing at Murphy since we played them at their place last year.

Why are they not coming to Murphy this year???
I have no clue, it was week 6 (9/23) too, which they have open and Murphy is looking for a game on. They did just get realigned into a region with more teams, but looks like Fannin is only non region game they kept from last year.

Yeah my nephew plays for Union and I told him him he needs to get with Thomas and let him know Murphy’s is open that week. I would bet though Coach Watson has already tried to get that game. They’ve been notorious for ducking Murphy. I really don’t understand how they would rather play towns county then to play a team that will only make you better.

Union knows what they're doing.
They have maybe the easiest schedule in AA in Georgia coming up this year. New coaching staff is trying to change the culture, scheduling winnable games should help with that. Sucks for Murphy and the fans though.

It's also going to help them that Rabun County moved into a new division Georgia is calling A Division I.

Also, if anybody thought NCHSAA realignment was messy, take a look at GHSA. Abolished the public/private split to prevent private schools from seceding, then increased the multiplier on out of district students, and split Class A into Division I and Division II.

Article in GHSA realignment.

Better than what we got in NC.
It's really not. Forget charter schools, GHSA set up is like if NCHSAA let teams like Christ School in. They did split the private schools off for Class A for a few years, but even then charter schools stayed in the public division and the "A-Public" champ was still a charter school in boys and girls basketball this year. And now they're ending the Public-Private split in Class A. Their playoff brackets make teams drive all over the state even in the early rounds--Towns County had a second round game this year less than an hour from Jacksonville, FL--and they always end up with a bunch of regions/conferences with only 4-5 teams in them. About the only thing they do that I wish NC did is make every student who doesn't come from a district count as three students. Anyway, I realize I hijacked this thread and apologize. Back to Murphy needing a game.
