MSU in the NFL Draft...

I really hope 3 but I always seem to overestimate our guys in the draft. Maroon glasses I reckon.

Sweat for sure.

I would not be shocked if Simmons dropped to the 2nd round because the injury, the “incident” and the deep DL class. He will the biggest steal of all time if he goes in the 2nd.

Abrams is up there as one of my favorites to ever put on maroon. Absolutely loved watching that dude come in like a steak of lightning and drilling a RB trying to find the edge. I see him going early in the 2nd.

I would be ecstatic if all 3 went in the 1st. Just kinda doubt it.

I think 3, but I don’t feel nearly as confident as I did a few weeks ago.

There’s some talk Sweat could really slide with the heart condition. It only takes 1 team though.

I think Simmons will go ahead of Abrams.

I think Abrams, Sweat, & Simmons will all go in the first 35-40 picks, but it could be anywhere from 1-3 actually in the first round. Elgton Jenkins should also go mid to late 2nd round.

I thought it was weird. Dak talking to Kyler Murray about being underestimated. Who is under estimating Kyler Murray?

I read where a player last year

Will MSU have 2 or 3 first rounders ?

#hailstate

With a first round grade and a heart condition slipped into the fifth round.

That would be a terrible blow, financially, to fall that far.

Here's hoping he proves them all wrong because he was a great Bulldog.

Sweat was cleared for the Combine, i think it's a minor condition. Sweat won't drop below Top 15 picks..

I've seen that not many teams seem concerned about the heart condition. He's had it for years and has shown little to no issues. If he slips, it's because of the deep d-end class (Bosa, Gary, Allen, Burns, etc.) He's ranked the third best end in the draft, and end is one of the most needed positions by numerous teams.

Sweat is a definite 1st rounder. Simmons, if he somehow slips through the cracks of the first, will be the biggest steal of all time. I've seen a few of Jeff going to the Chiefs 29th or the Rams 31st. Both teams can wait enough time for him to get back to 100% and still be okay. Seen a lot of guys saying he may be the best player from this class in 5 years. Abram going in the first round is probable, but later. Seen a lot of Colts, Eagles, Rams, Seahawks, Packers, and MAYBE Steelers all taking him. They all have a need for a leader in their secondary. Just a chance though. Definitely not impossible to see three dawgs go in the first.

Todd McShay called him a top-5 talent in a late pick because of the injury and the incident, he's already a steal at this position, especially for a few teams who can wait out the recovery process without taking too much of a hit. Plus, imagine for a second Stone Cold Jones and Jeffrey on the same D-Line; a scary thought.

Guilty as charged.

I'm sort of kidding. That's obviously at least a minor concern. Not really buying him at #1 overall (certainly a 1st rounder) but teams that really need QB ... didn't know that was AZ until recently.

It was Mo Hurst. He had a different medical history with the condition. The thing with Sweat, he was cleared with the condition to play in the Senior Bowl and go through the combine. This sounds like some teams trying to drop him into the later first to have a chance at him.

That would match our total from 1985-2018

Just more proof of how bad of a hire Joe Mo was. And maybe Cohen was too...

If you were frustrated with last years team, then this year will be even worse for you. We are Mississippi State...

And how bad of a hire Mullen was? Since he had ALL the same guys starting in 2017 and half of them starting in 2016 too?

Mullen might have been the best hire ever for MSU football, even though I never liked him.
He changed the perception and expectations of MSU football.
Danny Boy would have gotten gone 10-2 at worst last year with a shot at the Playoffs. Joe Mo is and idiot...

I do not agree with fishwater99 but if you think players are the exact same from year to year, you are pretty ignorant about sports. We had markedly better overall talent on the field in 2018 than 2017. You may point to Fitzgerald being considerably slowed by the injury, but that is it as far as talent.

Your best bet, for Joe Moorhead defense, is to go after the change in scheme. Most offensive coaches are at the mercy of their quarterback, so they need one that fits what they do.

The only major statistical difference for those players was Abram, who picked up a lot more tackles and a few INT’s after not splitting time with Bryant (who was not nearly the player Abram was at any point in his career). Simmons TFL went up, but sacks and FF went down. Of course, all of this is really irrelevant anyways, because 3 of the 4 players are on defense and it’s no secret that Moorhead / Shoop got way more out of that defense than Mullen / Grantham.

Rivers, landrews, and Cole weren't on 2017. 2017 finished 10th in total def; 2018 finished 1st.

2017 most certainly did not finish 10th. 27th in total defense and 31st in scoring defense.

Also, Cole and Landrews played in a combined 13 games between the two of them as both were plagued by injuries. Rivers was a backup, albeit a good contributor. Surely you aren’t arguing that those 3 are the difference between the 31st best and best defense in the country?

We will have one. Sweat. I think someone does get the balls and the knowledge to take Simmons even with the injury, so probably 2. Talk about a bargain. Really hate it for him though. I won’t in five years when he’s making 20 mil a year.

My bad...had some stats from different sites crossed up. It was 27th in scoring D though, which is what matters. And 2nd in 2018. Those 3 players were not the difference. Not even close. And even 10th to 1st in total D is also a huge leap.
