I will be on the ms gulf coast this weekend for a soccer tournament. Any suggestions on where to watch the game? Need kid friendly. Also, need food ideas. Staying in Biloxi but playing in gulfport.

I have never been there myself. But my mom raves about The Shed.

If Cajuns Fried Chicken Buffet is still around, it's fat mans paradise.

Honestly if you’re looking for lots of TVs you should go to BWW or Twin Peaks in D’Iberville. Another fun option would be Margaritaville. Kids can play games while you hang at the bar and watch the game.

As far as food, Half Shell is always good. Tarantos in Woolmarket is a hidden gem. Phoenicia in OS is really good too. With all due respect to Mobile Bay’s mother - the Shed sucks. They survive due to I-10 traffic, I don’t know any locals that eat there.

For watching the game, if you’re Near the Gulfport sportsplex, Buffalo Wild Wings will probably be your best bet. If you are already back in Biloxi, you might try the sports bar at the palace. Been a while, but probably would be kid friendly during day. Not positive at night. There is also a sports bar at the golden nugget. The dining area is kid friendly but I can’t remember how good the view of the TVs is from there. .

For food, with kids, half shell, the reef, Taranto’s, the fillin station, darwell’s, and the blind tiger are all good casual options. Tony’s pizza downtown Gulfport is good if you need something closer to the fields.

I haven't been there in years but if McElroys (sp?) is still there at the Biloxi harbor their crab fingers were worth the trip.

The Shed is only good if you've never had good bbq (kinda like Petty's)

I have never been there myself. But my mom raves about The Shed.

If you want to talk about Petty's then we have to acknowledge that Sony's is the greatest BBQ joint ever. God bless you in heaven Roosevelt Nicholls.

Felix’s, do yourself a favor and order the crab dip and stuffed red fish. I’d look into margaritaville if you’re looking for kid friendly during the game. Blind tiger is also great and close.

RE-read that. I'm saying Petty's is NOT good.
Sonny's is better than Petty's. We have one in Brandon. I drive past it everyday. I'm never tempted to stop unless I'm sick of everything else.
Dickey's is better than Sonny's, but also just fair.

Pig & Pint is one of my tops b/c Andy Cook got his start in BBQ'ing by hosting competitions at The Parker House and then joined a MIM team. He doesn't just put out slop. He tries to put out as close to competition food as you can get from a restaurant. I've run a concession stand with my competition trailer pulled up out back. Its hard to plan and cook fresh, good, competition quality BBQ with a window of selling it from 10:00 am to 1:00 am 4-5 days in a row. Even after doing it several times a year for 5 years, I can tell you that its easy to put out slop that most people dont know the difference. It is a whole different thing to put out good BBQ and have lots of people come back after they are done and tell you its the best they ever ate. I'm sure that Andy gets that as well.

Leatha's is an all-time favorite. When it was in Foxworth, it was on my school bus route. I can tell you some stories about her grandkids trying to get on the bus and setting in the very back. Them was some big ol' boys. Makes SPS'ers look like anorexia patients.

Son, Sonny's was never ever in Brandon. It was only on 16th section road just outside of Starkville. I have no idea what imposter you ate at, but it wasn't Sonny's. Your money was never taken by a man who has a .357 magnum in a hand with no trigger finger because he lost that finger at the Bryan plant in West Point. Your tea at that place was never served by a man named T.

Yeah, I thought you were talking about Sonny’s the chain. You had me worried. I was going to see if we could set up an intervention for your taste buds sake. Carry on.

Felix’s is worth the short drive over from Biloxi. Fried shrimp basket is awesome. We also love Half She’ll Oyster House. Yes, it’s a chain, but it is really good.

If you want to watch the game then definitely go to Buffalo Wild Wings. If you want good seafood then hit Half Shell or Torantos. I saw Felix suggested a couple times, it's garbage frozen crap. The Shed is a tourist trap and a waste of money. If you want good BBQ then hit Murky Waters downtown Gulfport. If you want good Pizza then Tony's downtown. If you want a little more expensive then the Rack House.

BWW right off of 49 in Gufport is going to be the easiest spot for y'all. There a Mugshots right beside it as well. Both are good options. If you have time, Margaritaville is the best location to go watch one though.

As others have said, I love Felix's. It's one of my favorite spots and they have a new upstairs outside bar that I haven't been able to go to yet where they have live music on weekends. Don't go to Murky Waters, it sucks. Sal and Mookies in Biloxi is cool. Pizza and ice cream - it's across from the Hard Rock. Woody's Roadside in Ocean Springs is a really good barfood option. If you stay tomorrow night, get a table at The Chimney's for brunch. Best seafood on the coast. It's white tablecloth, but if you have any casual clothes you will be fine.

I would argue that Felix's is not worth the drive. It's fine and has a good set up and especially this time of year, it's great for sitting on the deck. They have lunch specials during the week, not sure on the weekend, that are good. But if you're anywhere in Biloxi other than the far west side, you'd be better off going to the Blind Tiger. Also, Felix's is a chain. Hedge fund guy bought the one in New Orleans and the Gulfport one is I believe just the second one.

Halfshell isn't much more of a chain. It does have a good number of spots now, and when they expanded quickly their quality went down for a little while, but they have it fixed now. I think it got big enough to really act as their own wholesale provider and that allowed them to get quality and consistency back plus just I guess a learning curve on how to properly train staff for new restaurants.

If you're going to be there a long time and the kids need entertainment because they probably wont watch the game, just go to margaritaville. They get the HUGE arcade/bowling alley/zipline deal and there is a bar/restaurant with TV's right where you can see them and the TV's.

And the food is actually ok

They have an amazing arcade, golf simulators, an obstacle course and an indoor roller coaster. You can also hang at the arcade bar and watch the game, or they have several restaurants/bars on site.... including a Doe’s Eat Place.

If eating in Biloxi and watching the game and want seafood in a casual place.

Gollott’s Fresh Catch. Kids can play on the lower level deck with corn hole or other stuff. They have several big TV’s (might want to call to ensure they will have the game). Also, it’s off the beaten path so shouldn’t be as crazy crowded as HW90.

In Gulfport by sportsplex, you have mugshots and BWW. Lot of chains up that way - better food downtown. Back in Biloxi, there's a Woody's Roadside (probably my choice for game...good food, lots of tvs, cold beer - but very family friendly) right across from shaggys, the reef, etc. Keg and Barrel just opened on Highway 90 in Ocean Springs in the Inlet Condominiums. There's some other options downtown that'll have multiple tvs - depends where you're staying in Biloxi I guess. There's also a BWW and Mugshots in Promenade in D'ville.

Half Shell, Mary Mahoneys are great food and family friendly, but not sport friendly. Fillin Station is great food, turns into more of a bar at night, not tv friendly.

Good to know. What about the sports bar in the Golden Nugget? Michael Patrick's maybe? Do you know if it got converted into the sports book or is it still the sports bar with the family friendly restaurant attached?

The Shed is garbage BBQ. Lifelong coast resident here.
I think that redhead has spoiled your taste buds. Everybody in my family loves the Shed, even those in other parts of the state. The shed has won first place at least once, and I think twice, at the Memphis in May contest.

Yep, next weekend will be horrible. I'm headed down Wednesday with my two trucks. We have a friend with a beach house on HWY 90. Plan to spend most of our time in his front yard.

It's got the sports book in it now, but I'm not sure it's exclusive to that. Last time I was there was Mardi Gras, and things seem to work different that weekend when GCCA takes over.
