Mrs. Truman never forgot the burning, looting and thorough destruction of western Missouri by U.S. forces. After the War, when her son Harry S. Truman, was invited to dinner by a prominent family in Kansas City--a family who had profited handsomely by the War--she made this remark.

Keep in mind that President Truman was also proud of his Confederate ancestry, especially since he was a descendant of a Confederate Veteran and a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

My Grandmother had a great-Aunt that constantly wrote the War Dept. for payments promised in writing by various Union officers over damage to the family farm and taking of livestock. Kept it up until she died in the late 1920's.

Harry Truman was a son of the south. Confederate, confederate flag and all. One of the Democrats poster boys

Can "Lincoln, a Republican, freed the slaves, therefore blacks should vote for Trump" be far behind?

expectations from a troll is never high but I agree, probably the weirdest OP of any thread I have ever seen. This troll has gone over the edge.

It's the "Off Topic Board". He can post about goat herding here if wants.

I always enjoy a Truman thread. Harry was an interesting guy.

It is the underlying implication that is kooky
I have no problems with President Truman. He was never the Exalted Cyclops that Bobby Byrd was.
Just curious...... is your mention of "the underlying implication" the same type of comment we see you and others tag Republicans with?

Harry was also a dues paying member of KKK 1920-22. Things and people change.

Not defending him, but that was the time of the rise of the NEW KKK that opened up to oppose immigration, resulting in a major boost in membership from Americans who did NOT hate against African-Americans. Now, Truman may or may not fall in that group, but just giving you some more information.

If it is not applicable, what can I do with that information. If you want to share information, which party was responsible for the 14th Amendment. What did the amendment do ?
