Why isn't anyone talking about Mount Airys jv kids getting time in the 2nd half?
Heck fire, us Mt Airy people are not even sure we should do much more than have dinner at American Roadhouse, pay to get into the stadium and then, immediately, start driving home. I seriously doubt we can complete, at least for not long. Eastern Randolph has earned the number one seed and I will look forward to seeing if either Draughn or Andrews can give them a good game.
Weather for Friday in Asheboro is 81% of rain early morning, clearing to 11% chance of rain Friday night. About 1/2 inch of rain according to Weather Channel.
this is an awesome challenge for Bears…playing #1 team at their place….1st playoff road game since ‘20 (Covid season) …never been to ER but looking forward to it

Looks to me like the rpi was pretty close. 3 of the top 4 are still playing and Thomasville was very close to making it 4 for 4.

Lot of bitter angry people down here in 1a land when you come in here and stir things up. We got waxed at home by Murphy last year and handled in like gentleman although us locals knows theres an asterisk attached to that one. Some people lose and cheer you on and others turn bitter and nasty. Not sure what ER ever did to attract such hatred and harsh feelings especially for not even being a strong winning program with any type of tradition.
Even the Mt Airy folks keep making comments tongue in cheek about how they got no chance and shouldn't even get off the bus. We keep telling um we don't have any athletes any stand out stars any D1 recruits or anything in particular they need to stop or shut down but somehow we are considered to be the favorite after limping through the first two games.
If Robbinsville had a kicker and finished off their drives they would have won the game but what team hasn't ever said shoulda woulda coulda? Lotta people feel that way after a game, just the way it goes. IF Mt Airy gets off the bus and plays like they've shown they can I don't think anyone here will be surprised to see them move on. But what IF they don't? Thats why we play the game. Easterns had their share of stinkers they didn't show up and perform for over the years too, it happens.
It looks like the secret to getting the #1 seed, good RPI, seeding, ranking and all of the above is playing a strong schedule and winning your games. ER played a full schedule against 2a-3a teams and didn't play in their class until the playoffs. Can anyone else in 1a say that? Thats the conference they're in and thats who they play until further notice and I bet they'll get a little bias favoritism because of that every year so long as they're winning those games and competitive. We realize classification is not an indication of quality of opponent but maybe the computer doing the math does. So if you don't think they're deserving and get tired of having to travel down you're gonna have to up your non-conference schedule best you can to boost those numbers. The other option is you just ride down here 5 hours and get off the bus and wax our asses at home like Murphy did with nary a complaint and go on about your business.
Lastly and I know this one really burns up some toast around here. If Eastern loses Friday night the sun will most likely come up saturday and life will go on. Just like the boys from all the other teams that have bowed out they've gone on to wrestling, basketball, other interests, and have the rest of their lives ahead of them. They'll shake everyones hand, graciously bow out, and go on about their lives just like everyone before them has done year after year. I'm not sure whats so anger inducing about that type of behavior but thats how we do business around here and while we love to win and hope to do so losing and adversity is a fact of life. The quicker some of you can learn to accept and cope with that the happier you'll be.

Well, I believe Mt Airy has the talent, skill, coaching and hunger to run the table. Top to bottom I believe Mt Airy is the best 1A team in the State. Period. End of Story.
Until, they are not.
They are a heavy Junior, Sophomore and Freshman team. They are two plays, 2 extra points, and 4 injured starters/players away from being undefeated on the season. But.....
The game is won on the field with the players you have. To my knowledge everyone except one is healthy (one, and an important one, is out for the season).
Having said all that, Eastern Randolph has to be strong. Their record says so.
Dranghn and Andrews' records also says the same.
I am looking forward to coming to a great school this Friday night and two very good teams will play. And no matter what happens, the sun will come up on Saturday and both teams have had a great season.
