I'm just interested in hearing some thought on who y'all think will be the best players in WNC in 2017. The ones that come to mind immediately for me (not necessarily in order):

1. Kaedin Robinson-Reynolds
2. Nathan St. Onge-Reynolds
3. Isiaiah Poore-Erwin (rumored transfer?)
4. Grossett-TCR (rumored transfer?)
5. Williford-Hendersonville
6. Frank Torres-Reynolds

I know I'm a little biased because I only follow Reynolds closely so I'd love to hear some names that aren't on my radar. I think the talent level in WNC is vastly underrated, especially at the skill positions. I'd love to see some guys get some big offers. I could definitely see Robinson and Poore make some noise at the D-1 level. St. Onge has a future somewhere too and if Torres has the measurables to go along with his instincts and tackling ability, I could definitely see him playing at the next level. I'm sure there are guys I'm leaving out but I figure this might be an interesting discussion. Lets keep it positive.

The QB for Pisgah (Tanner Wike Soph) is almost 2,000 pass and 1,000 rushing with 30+ TD's
Also they have a 6'5 230 pound (Kameron Walker Soph) TE/WR that just got his first two starts on Varsity and has had 200+ receiving and TD last two games.

The others mentioned above are definitely worthy as well.

I look forward to that QB/WR combo setting records the next two years. Another guy to look at is the Ensley kid from North. Kid is a stud of an athlete and passed the ball great against us. If only he had more weapons around him!

Was Reynolds jv qb , groomed at Asheville youth league will put up numbers , rushed for 1,000 yards this past year an almost threw for 1,000 , I don't think he will play qb for the rockets but he will contribute somewhere

The "best player since Crezdon butler" is supposed to be A sophomore at Asheville high next year, but he's sitting at Christ school as we speak

Ari Williams - WR and Ethan Shook - MLB are both juniors and are two of the best in WNC at their position.

I consider Freedom part of western NC. :)
QB Jayden Birchfield is a freshman that has the size and skill set to be big time. Keep an eye on him

I know MAC folks might be skeptical of me throwing out a 1A player, but Murphy's junior quarterback, Joey Curry, is a special player. Pretty good size (6-2) and I think D1 athleticism (older brother is a starter for the UGA baseball team), he's thrown for 1500 yards and 16 touchdowns without a single interception so far this year.

Yeah he is good and I would be very suprised to see him go anywhere. I heard rumblings much like some of you guys when he first got hurt but I think he had a change of heart. He has deep Owen blood lines. He will be on a very talented and much more experienced team next year which should be much much better. Out of 22 starters, Owen will only lose about 7 total starters. We were extremely young with absolutely no leadership. He is a leader and it's his team now. His younger brother also plays and they finally get the chance to play together.

I really hope he stays at Owen. I feel for you if he goes though. All of the county schools have to deal with them.

We are the only school in the county that never gets transfers. If he does, ACR better hope he moves into the district because I will do everything in my power to let the powers that be, know that ACR is accepting players and playing them without 365 days sitting. That is what needs to be done with these schools. I watched with my own eyes Kenny Ford and Anthony Lee tell players that wanted to transfer to Owen that they must live in the district. That stance didn't help them much on the field but I admire the coach's that will play by the rules and not do what these other coach's do. The coachs at ACR over the years have not done things the right way. I have saw many Owen players transfer to ACR and never have a bonafide move. I would totally respect there program if they won with the kids from there district but they always win with other kids. I would rather never win a state title than to win one with everyone else's kids. On this thread you have ACR AND Asheville fans begging for other teams kids. Do with your own kids. Pathetic!

Please give some specifics of ACR coaches not doing things the right way and what kind of power do you have? If you have some kind of special power, you should use it at Owen, they need some help.

I wouldn't say Enka and North Buncombe have been overrun by transfers either.

I don't have any power. But I will let those who do know to look into it this time. Whatever I have to do. I know for a fact that Jake Knine and Josh Grant and Shane Harper never moved when they came to ACR. That's just to name a few. That's what I mean by not doing things the right way. If your coach's wanted to do right then they would say we can't take you unless you live in our district like Kenny Ford and Anthony Lee have done.

How were they allowed to attend a school and play sports living out of district? Sounds like an administration thing more than a coaching thing, Whats the coach supposed to do? Go to each of his or hers players house and check it out?

They knew where they come from. It's a administration issue to allow the students at the school. A coach's issue with the team.

If a student wants to go to another public school and gets clearance from the school to do so then that's fine. When they do though, they are to sit out 365 days before playing a sport for that team after playing for the former school. I know Josh and Jakes dad's and believe me the coaching staff new they were from Owen and former players of Owen. If the school allows a kid to play ineligible then they have to forfeit games he is dressed for so I think the coach's best interest is to make sure they are eligible. So if ACR wants to continue to recruit players then maybe they just need to be caught doing so. They have done it for years.

This is just comical......do it with your own players, like Owen players won us ANY State Titles. Those names you mentioned, I don't know if I even recall what positions they played.

Shane harper was a rb. He quit after a couple games and came back to Owen after Owen beat them. He wanted to play for Owen then but Kenny wouldn't let him play. Josh was one of the deep men in kick returns and backup rb. He had 2nd most return yards for the team and had close to 200 yards in returns. He had about 150 yards rushing and 2 tds in 2009. Of course he was battling with Wallace, Porter and Marion whom i will speak of. Haha! Jake was a starting linemen. Josh won a state title I'm pretty sure in 2009. Speaking of 2009. ACR also had transfers mentioned before in Marion, Porter and Wallace from Asheville. I know of 4 right there and that's probably not all. That 2009 state championship is as much Asheville Highs championship.

What's comical is your man crush on ACR football. You bring up this same old tired argument every year. Please, do what you think you have to do to make Owen relevant again. Turn in whoever you want to turn in. Go to the NCHSAA and give them an ear full of this drivel you spout off on here and see how far that gets you. Your jealousy of ACR, Asheville and the other winning programs is obvious. Believe what you want to. If you keep on thinking that you will never be disappointed. Good Luck to you sir.

I still don't like the transfer stuff buy I like them. If you don't like what I say don't respond cause nothing will change. I hate everything about ACR so don't thrill yourself with the man crush crap.

Well, I am glad we got that straightened out. I know nothing will change. ACR will keep on winning and Owen will ....well keep on doing whatever it is y'all are doing out there. I actually like your posts. They are very entertaining.

Since you mentioned you support Asheville when you don't play them, when was the last time Owen played Asheville?
