I really like Santa Clara over Kentucky and VCU over North Carolina. St Johns might have an issue with Northern Iowa if they are not ready to play from the get go. I love Mc Neese but they got the toughest 5 in Vandy, should be a great game. I wouldnt be surprise if Sparty struggles a bit.

Agree. Santa Clara and VCU are the teams most likely to pull off early upsets.

An Akron win would not surprise me.

I've seen South Florida on TV a few times this year. They are really good. I think they can make some noise in this tournament

pick as many as you want or suggest another not listed.
Didn’t vote yet but the widening gap between the top teams and mid majors leads me to think the # of upsets will be less even than last year

last year their were 5 and 2 of them were 10 seeds which are marginal

I would guess about same this year … used to be a near given you’d get 8-10 lower seeds and at least 1-2 real shockers in the 13-16 seeds

I like some of the low seeds but not enough… then again that’s why they play

you sort of see that in the Vegas odds in the individual games. Usually you’ll see some 12/5 games that are close to pick’em and even some 13/4 games are well into the single digits. Doesn’t seem to be the case this year.

Damn... I picked both Santa Clara and VCU in my pool so the fact that people here like them doesn't make me feel good... :)

Kinda had a feeling Wisconsin had an Elite 8 run coming. Shows what I know.
My bracket says hold my spilled beer.
Had the Badgers as a Cinderella in the Final 4. Yeah it was a long shot that blew up in my face.

Look at Greg Gards performance in the tournament since his first two seasons when he inherited Bo Ryan’s roster

he hasn’t made it out of the first weekend in 10 years shouldn’t surprise anyone they lost

? Missing the reference here. His father's Wiki bio:

His son, Phil Jr., has served as the head coach of the VCU’s men's basketball team since March 25, 2025.[61] His other son, Jimmy, serves as an assistant coach on the Penn State University men's basketball team.

Assistant coach Jimmy Martelli resigned his post. People around the Scarlet Knights basketball program referred to Martelli as “Baby Rice”, according to ESPN. Martelli exhibited some of the same coaching tactics as Rice, including physical abuse and harsh language.

Never caught or did not retain that reference.

I literally ran into Mike Rice shortly after he was fired when I was mountain biking in Hartshorne Woods and he was walking. He seemed stunned when I asked him if he was Mike Rice, as if I was going to insult him. I wished him luck in the future, and I kept riding. He was hiking downhill, which seemed metaphorically appropriate.

Not even on this list Bac you are a doofus
Wait what? Mugrat told me it was spelled Dufus when called me that. So you made me look it up. Now I see he was partially correct and I feel better now knowing he was possibly endearing himself... but me being a Doofus/Dufus I wouldn't have known.

AI Overview

"Doofus" is the standard spelling for a slang term meaning a foolish, inept, or silly person
. "Dufus" is recognized as a less common variant or alternative spelling, but "doofus" is more frequently used. It is a light-hearted, often endearing insult originating from 1960s US slang, similar to "goofus".
