Talkin' facilities: Moos also fielded a question about the future of facilities projects at Nebraska, in particular, a football project that Moos recently told the Journal Star was not imminent but should be part of the plan in the next three to five years if not sooner.
“Throughout my career, I’ve been known as a facilities person. I think that’s what attracts young people today, a big piece of it, and I love to think outside the lines,” he said after a caller suggested outside-the-box ideas like a lazy river and a barbershop. “You talk about the barbershop at Oregon, I may remind you that I was at Oregon and I got my hair cut there a few times after we put it in. There’s lots of other pieces that can be unique and to have a vision as we put plans together; I’ve always been one to take ideas and go look at other people."
Moos told the Journal Star recently that a standalone football complex separate from North Stadium and the Hawks indoor center is a possibility, but nothing has advanced past the planning stages.
“So much of college athletics today and I know in my world of the things that we’ve been fortunate enough to have built, which have been very good, are a little piece of this and a little piece of that,” he added Wednesday night. “Some of LSU, some of Texas A&M and piece it all together and cherry-pick it and maybe come up with a few new
ideas and before you know it, you have the best.
“That’s what we’re all about at Nebraska is having the best.”
