Mississippi State survives 85-81

Also of note, their injured star Tolu Smith is getting a foot scan tomorrow after being ahead of schedule in his recovery from an injury suffered pre-season.

The original timeline had him coming back sometime in January. Seriously doubt he's ready to come back for our game but worth monitoring as they expect to have an update on his expected return based on tomorrow's scan.

This is a game we need to win

Take a good look Around…most power 6 teams have 2 or more out of confrence losses

A win for RU to go 9-2…with four power 6 games and Princeton …and no bad losses …allows us to have our big ten confrnce record determine our NCAA fate

This is a big game …call it our first semester final exam …and a big swing on the overall “team GPA” heading into the second half of the year ….

I’m going with Mississippi St. is pretty good and we need to play well.

If I started a thread saying:
Mississippi St. is good!
Our board analytics and stat team posters would come up with a dozen reasons why they suck and how dare I think we need to play well to beat them

Anybody have a clue of what type of crowd we will get for this game? Ru vs Mississippi State at Prudential Ctr.

No knowledge, but I predict no more than 4,500.

No students. Saturday before Christmas. 12:00 start. Game in Newark, so much further away for south Jersey fans. A lot of factors conspiring against any sort of large crowd.

Attendance is usually based on matchups, location and time and date of game.I'm pretty sure UConn versus Seton Hall on next Wednesday at the Prudential Center will attract more than 4500.

it reflects poorly on the fanbase at the end of the day if it’s a small crowd.

It’s 2 days before Christmas. People got stuff to do, are traveling or have family traveling in.

The game last year on 12/23 at the RAC was also lightly attended. Seemed like everyone, including the players, were eager to get out of there. (Except Myles who flew XC to visit).

Oh well, nice venue for the players
Once the game starts you’re responsible to motivate yourself and take pride in your game, fans or no fans.

It's also part of a season ticket package that many fans already have.

This Miss State game is a standalone thing.

Also 12/23 at noon is a tough date/time for many. We'd draw better on the Wednesday night I think.

At end of day who cares, it will be 99% RU

no it doesnt, its a ****** location on a ****** day and time

Yup. We’re going. It was the only game we could commit to with the boys travel basketball schedule. We’re not allowed to plan anything outside of holiday weeks during the season. Honestly - that’s who this game will probably draw the most. RU fans or not. Families in north state not too far who have basketball kids that stuck around for the holidays. Most towns don’t require the travel kids to keep their schedules open over the holiday. Knick tickets are so expensive. So this is just a good alternative opportunity to take your kids to a hoops event. Otherwise - I don’t see what the draw would be right before Christmas.

People won't travel to Newark a couple days before Christmas but everyone wants us to go play a tournament in Florida or the Bahamas the week of Thanksgiving. Make it make sense.
No, only certain people who by the way are the ones who advocated for these games and probably won't even show up. Personally, I go to virtually all games at the Rac traveling 2 to 3 hours each way but won't go Saturday due to family obligations and I'm glad I can't make it. Venue and location suck.

eh I don’t think that’s why we’re playing this. Pike knew he needed some real games. Didn’t want to travel for a tourney. So we end up in this thing. I agree it’s not going to be a big draw but I’m still happy we scheduled this game instead of say another home game against Central CT or something.

The venue is very good and it’s close to tens of thousands of RU alums and students on break.
