I suspect there's a couple of kids at NWR that are targets. They seem to be pretty stacked.

And 3 from Madison in the top 9. The metro is strong this year.

We’ve got Stone Blanton from MRA in the boat for baseball and football. His football recruiting is going to pick up big time this year. As long as we can hang on, he could be a big contributor in both sports.

When has any player in history every been a big contributor in 2 sports? He won't be any different. He'll either pick one or the other, or won't contribute much in at least one.

I think the free safety that broke up mini me's pass against LSU in Mullen's first year was also their closer in baseball? Or maybe played outfield and got brought in for middle relief? Not positive.

To clarify, any MSU player? Other schools have done it, but even then not very often, and generally with only limited success in at least one sport. Bo Jackson at Auburn and Deion Sanders at FSU are two obvious exceptions that come immediately to mind.

Yea, I was just trying to think of anyone in the SEC in the last 20 years and Gross was about the only one I could come up with that was really good in both sports. Sort of interested to see what John Rhys Plumlee does at OM.

Michael Gholar is the only example during my fandom (since 72-73) and he didn’t play football until after his basketball career was over.

Tim Parenton played both. Not much of a contributor in either, although he did QB us for the 7-6 loss to USM when Bond was presumably suspended. Glen Young was a pinch running specialist for the baseball team. There was a white basketball player who played a couple of years of baseball back in the early 2000s, didn't contribute much at all in either sport. I know Barry and Ron Winford initially came on football scholarships, but both gave that up almost immediately. That's about all I can recall for MSU 2-sport athletes in the last 40 years.

Famous Jameis, Todd Helton. But closer to home, Mule, maybe Scott Gumina back in the 90s. But yeah there aren't that many unreal athletes that can do both anymore. Most will be a contributor at one and a minor role player at the other, at best.

I think Brad Freeman might have went out for football for a year or two too.
