A good game to get back from the Covid lost game.

TU up 12-4 with about 4 minutes left first quarter. Good defense and rebounding so far, as expected.

This is the TU basketball team that is deserving of crowd support.

I absolutely loathe women's basketball (they play with a much smaller ball - it's nuts, right?!?!)... but I'd love to see these women get better attendance than the men.

They deserve it.

TU up at halftime 41-30.

one inch in circumference is not a big deal for the ball. Excuses, excuses.

I support the women’s program but due to workload family and public commitments I can’t start attending
Happy to see their turnaround after years of mediocrity absent the NCAA year

So, I didn’t really follow the women last year. Are we winning with a bunch of new players, or returning players in a new system?

Most of the team are returning players with some freshman players contributing.

It helps to have two Mayberry sisters and a Poindexter (Ray's daughter) playing. Admission to the Women's games is free for up to 4 people if you have a TU Sports Pass. Also, you can park in the Gold lot for the Women's games.

New coach and philosophy. It's a pretty experienced team but the addition of Temira Poindexter has been huge for TU. She is a force in the middle and can both block shots and rebound and she's shooting an incredibly high FG % right now. It looks like Nelp has give the Mayberry's a green light to shoot from outside when open.

TU could finish in the top 4 of the league. They haven't beaten any world beaters this season but they've been solid and have not lost the same types of games they would have lost the previous 3-4 seasons (i.e. Duquesne). Missouri S&T was obviously a game they wanted to get an extra home game. S&T is division II. Also, the athletes on the women's sports teams makes are part of the 25% of female students in Rolla. I remember when they came and played in the women's soccer team in Fall 1993...it was Halloween and it was freaking snowing in Tulsa and they played the game. TU's women won the game 13-0 (don't ask how I remember this).

Back in 1993 they would have been known as University of Missouri - Rolla. I looked at that school for graduate school for engineering 44 years ago.

Back in the '50s, when my oldest brother graduated there, it was known as the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy
