Mintz Ty Ty, CJ and Grady.

If Hardy comes cal will have to seriously think about platooning
Hardy is the exception.
He changes everything and probably would push Mintz out although no one would complain there.
I think Mintz is a guy who would love the experience of playing in front of a packed Rupp and hear BBN on the road.

Yeah but with CJ and Grady I see Dontaie as a primary 3 So I put him in the forward group.
Im not sure. I doubt Mintz gets pushed out. Mintz was a fighter and had that will to win. It could be if Hardy comes, Mintz becomes Anthony Epps 2.0. And I believe most fans that have seen Epps would love that.
And Mintz is a gamer. Unafraid to take those clutch shots and has made them.
If Mintz comes back that will take care of a lot of our problems, after he settled in you can see what he can do. He is also a good defender and capable back up point guard. I think after he considers everything he will come back and I think that's what scouts will tell him.
Mintz, Grady, Allen, Tyty, and CJ is a more than competent back court.
If we get what it's looking most likely we get, we're looking at:
PG: TyTy backed up by Mintz
SG: Mintz backed up by Fredrick
SF/3G: Grady backed up by Allen
PF: Brooks backed up by Collins, at least on day 1.
C: Oscar backed up by Ware
With Toppin also getting minutes at 3 and 4 and Hopkins probably spot minutes.

It’s hard not get excited thinking about the pressure that team can put on a defense. Lots of guys there that know how to play the game and have seen lots of minutes.
I hear what you are saying and don't totally disagree but Cal will have a hard time not starting TyTy that's just his DNA.
Very solid team. I don’t see it as a title contender, but if a couple guys end up better than expected, who knows. It feels like a safe 15-25 ranked team, which isn’t bad after the season we just had.
Lots of experienced guys and lots of guys who can make shots. Cal always gets his teams to play defense. This year is going to be a hell of a lot better than what we just went through.
Hopkins may be our best true combo forward.

He's unlikely to get drafted. Testing out the waters is probably to get feedback to put himself in the best position possible for next year.
I wondered why he took so long to decide to test the draft waters. But realistically it was probably always going pro over seas vs staying in the states. And staying in the states is returning to UK after going through the draft eval process to get feedback/info.

Did you have UCLA in the title game with Juzang setting scoring records?
For me, talent and experience seems to be there, but what’s sum of its totals? Will they mesh well?

No I didn’t, nor did anyone else. It’s also why I said “if a couple guys end up better than expected, who knows”. We still have a pretty big question at the PG spot, but we could always add someone else or Tyty be a legit stud.
It’s good to have a bully on the blocks. It’s even better to have 2.
PG recruit Hickman decommitted, Hopkins is a forward who's still committed.

Hickman is gone and Hopkins is here. Hopkins is a 3/4 and Hickman was a PG, just to further clarify.
If we get TyTy or a comparable PG & Mintz comes back or we land another guy who can play (back up) PG then I think it’s a title contender. That’s a pretty versatile & complete team. We should have at least 2 knockdown shooters on the floor at all times to space the floor & that will cure a lot of our recent problems. The bigs will almost always be in a 1 on 1 situation & guys will have a lane to drive to the basket since the defense can’t sag off in the paint. Probably won’t be a great defensive team but I think there’s enough offense to offset that. Should be strong inside, though. Then again I could be delusional & talking outta my *** bc I’m so happy we finally have some shooters, lol.
Nah, I don’t think this is off base at all. I won’t know how to act with possible above average shooting as a unit, lol.
I really think this team may be shaping up like a platoon is the best option. And I know some of you are anti-platoon, but a platoon does not have to be a 50/50 split. It could be such that one group plays 24min and the other 16min, or other possibilities.
Although I think can sell to one more guard if can convince will play 3 guards a lot. And it's not like we haven't before (Ulis, Murray, Briscoe).
I like that he seems to be better coming down on the break and pulling up for the 3. No thinking, just shooting AND making!
