have no idea if he would even pick up the phone but

he makes 7.5 mil per year and has five years - I think his contract auto renews and adds a year so it is always at 5 years
that is 37.5K over the next 5 years

would you be willing to go the USC route and offer 80 million over 8 years or a 100 mil over 10?

are there other current power 5 coaches that might warrant such an offer AND consider NU?

For the sake of adding another name outside of the usual suspects being mentioned:

Pat Narduzzi. He's 56 and seems like a grinder with no hobbies. Knows the B1G. Makes $3.2M per year. Has done as well and arguably better than Paul Chryst did before him at Pitt and Chryst made the transition to B1G West HC no problem (I agree Wisconsin was in different situation than we are). I wouldn't throw $10M at him, but certainly $5M with plenty of money for assistants.

He may not seem flashy, but Narduzzi has better P5 record and accomplishments (54-38, 2021 ACC champs) than guys like Campbell (35-15 at Toledo, 0 conference championships; 44-34 at ISU, 0 conference championships) and Rhule (28-23 at Temple, 2016 AAC champs; 19-20 at Baylor, 0 conference championships) who are at the top of people's lists right now.

5 years ago I would have taken a shot with Gundy, but not anymore, you really just have to question how much fire he has left in his belly at this point... in my opinion.

Hire Narduzzi and tell him he has to keep Whipple. That would be interesting.

Gundy has won exactly one (1) conference championship in 17 previous seasons.
He is 3-14 against his main rival.
He is good for 9 wins most seasons, with rare exceptions. His teams are never bad.

These are the types of records that Nebraska used to fire coaches for.

i'm a man and i say no to gundy. need an energetic younger guy with basic concepts on offense, defense, and special teams who have shown and ability to adjust to talent on the team. have a real close look at their personal lives and habits. we have to stop signing these guys up that are already halfway off the tracks or one step away from retirement.

Do you think we are going to get someone who has won multiple power 5 conf championships and has a winning record against against a perennial top 5-10 team (Oklahoma)?

we are going to go with someone who hasn’t won at the power 5 level but hasn’t not won at that level either
