Last week.
Good punt returns tonight.
Good punt returns tonight.
Sometimes you gotta get people on the right seat of the bus.Bo Pelini in 2014 showed us that one determined coach can fix awful special teams in a year. BB didn't do too bad in 2022 either. I even saw our old ST coach on the sideline I bet he's having the time of his life likely talking to high school coaches and eating at restaurants best to him.
If you breathe on either Barney or Nelson they go down.Would be nice if Barney could break a tackle or two. He goes down easy.
No, Foley was on Nebraska's sideline last night.Did Akron hire Ed Foley as ST coach?
Dude basically won the lotto!Bo Pelini in 2014 showed us that one determined coach can fix awful special teams in a year. BB didn't do too bad in 2022 either. You know they all see this too. Definitely fixable with an upgraded coach. And here is a prime example of an effective position coach. Ek has taken what was one of the most wretched ST units the last few years, and turned them into a game changing unit. Going from a comedy of errors, zero punt return yardage, total crap unit to one that flips the field and momentum in a game.
Now you see why we need to make a change at O line coach. Just like special teams, our O line has much more ability than they are showing. Even a first year DC was able to make changes/ improve his unit during the bye week. Our O line coach is in fricking year 6 and the unit is a dumpster fire. I rest my case.
We don’t win that game with last years special teams, no doubt. I personally thought the flag was very unfortunate, but correct. Nelson did use both hands to push the guy in the back, and it sprung the whole play.Wasn't it his birthday? Should have had 2 td's (flag was a bad call) and a fumble recovery from special teams. Rhule said he called the fake punt (which wasn't a bad call imo). We finally have kick returns again. Not sure we win this game without the standout special teams play.

Too bad Tom didn’t “have that fire” he could have been so much better.now you see why they play so hard
if only some of the other coaches had this fire
Tom was the calm. McBride was the storm.Too bad Tom didn’t “have that fire” he could have been so much better.
That's 2 games so far this year we won and 1 we lost. I say we lost because we missed a fg and then didn't use them on the first drive against MichiganWe don’t win that game with last years special teams, no doubt. Thanks Mike. And here is a prime example of an effective position coach. Ek has taken what was one of the most wretched ST units the last few years, and turned them into a game changing unit. I guess you never saw the part where he told Wistrom , and Peters to get the damn ball back......Too bad Tom didn’t “have that fire” he could have been so much better.
