Ekeler is def already winning; and what’s great is I don’t think he’s even winning our new coach of the year. That goes to Daikie

it’s a good thing to have coaches hired based on knowledge

Bo Pelini in 2014 showed us that one determined coach can fix awful special teams in a year. BB didn't do too bad in 2022 either. I even saw our old ST coach on the sideline I bet he's having the time of his life likely talking to high school coaches and eating at restaurants best to him.

Would be nice if Barney could break a tackle or two. He goes down easy.

He’s 155 pounds soaking wet. A stiff breeze knocks him off his feet.. he needs to run with the wind at his tail.

I just can’t believe how we’ve been subjected to arguably the worst 8-10 year stretch of special teams in history. Frost weirdly refused to do anything about it. Probably thought the idea came from a fan or a writer, so he was set on doing the opposite. And then Rhule uses one of his awful hires for special teams, and we blow games left and right on disastrous special teams play for two more years.

But thank God we are behind that now. Ekeler is here. I had forgotten how much fun a punt return can be.

Wasn't it his birthday? Should have had 2 td's (flag was a bad call) and a fumble recovery from special teams. Rhule said he called the fake punt (which wasn't a bad call imo). We finally have kick returns again. Not sure we win this game without the standout special teams play.

And here is a prime example of an effective position coach. Ek has taken what was one of the most wretched ST units the last few years, and turned them into a game changing unit. Going from a comedy of errors, zero punt return yardage, total crap unit to one that flips the field and momentum in a game.

Now you see why we need to make a change at O line coach. Just like special teams, our O line has much more ability than they are showing. Even a first year DC was able to make changes/ improve his unit during the bye week. Our O line coach is in fricking year 6 and the unit is a dumpster fire. I rest my case.

You know they all see this too. Definitely fixable with an upgraded coach.

Yes, everyone thought Ek was a good hire. Fortunately, everyone was right.

We don’t win that game with last years special teams, no doubt. I personally thought the flag was very unfortunate, but correct. Nelson did use both hands to push the guy in the back, and it sprung the whole play.

That's 2 games so far this year we won and 1 we lost. I say we lost because we missed a fg and then didn't use them on the first drive against Michigan

We’ve had some doozies here at DONU. Two of the worst were Frost’s Mario Verduzco (aka Harry Potter) coaching QB and Rhule’s Foley. I’m not sure how these clowns got to their respective jobs (other than simply being buddies with someone). I am so thankful Ekeler is back and now coaching Special Teams! Instead of singlehandedly losing games, Special Teams unit is singlehandedly turning games into wins. Foley can go live in a van down by the Missouri river!
