From the Canes message board:

Canes are capable of winning this regional.miss st tough environment to play but not like omaha is.

I assume he has never been to Dudy Noble. Omaha should feel like a "meet-and-greet" compared to playing in Starkville.

The thing is unless you are playing MState or LSU the atmosphere at Omaha is just a big party knocking beach balls around the stands.

I see they don't have a rule 17. Funny, I saw it and first thing I thought about was "wow, they didn't use 17."

I was more annoyed of the locals last year that were more interested in which side of the outfield sucked than the game especially when we were batting.

To be fair, that’s the one guy on the thread going against the main thought: Starkville is a tough place to play.

^^^ This. The tenor of the thread is, "17!!! It sucks to get sent there."

I do know one thing. Number1canesfan = coach34. There's no way I could read posts where that dude talked about his playing days in every post on a daily basis. I loved the reply saying something to the extent no one cares about your MEAC team playing a midweek game at Arkansas"

Typical Cane fans in any sport... arrogant and ignorant. They kinda remind me of Ole Miss fans. They even had to mention their glorious past in the thread.

They could be twins. Their fans don't care too much for him either, just like most MSU fans don't care for C34's posturing.

Really? I suppose we just read things differently sometimes, because I didn't get that impression at all. The vast majority of their posters seemed very civil to me. I get the distinct impression that their baseball fans and team are a few steps above their football team.

25 Omaha appearances (#2 all time), 4 titles (tied for #5 all time). I would say their past is worth mentioning. They seem very humble all things considered.

I saw those folks too but I read more acting as if we were going to be no issue at all. I may be a bit sensitive but I have some family that went to school there and I had to listen to just how great Thug U was in any sport they chose to play.

Just ignore me. Too much tequila last night having shots with a vet friend of mine so I'm a bit grumpy.

I don't mind having a big name opponent. Hopefully we get past them and it prepares us for a run in Omaha.

They are kind of like Alabama. They have a lot of sidwalk alums. I know a few actual Miami grads, they are alright.

Ha. Yeah, understand. When I mentioned their football team, it was an oblique reference to Thug U. Kind of amazing how bad a private university can be in certain areas. Maybe Manny is straightening that out.

I remember a few years ago they were ranked #1 (or at least high) in football and nobody was at the games. That may have improved now.

I know about 40 or 50 Miami grads, and all of them are generally good people. The sidewalk fans for Miami football are up there with Bama. Lots and lots of people that have never actually been to the Coral Gables campus before but wear the “U” as if it’s a status symbol.

Miami’s national champion football team in 2001 might’ve been the greatest football team in NCAA history. They started the year ranked #2 and were #1 by the second week of the season. They averaged 34,000 attendance and never once sold out the old Orange Bowl that held 75,000 people. That’s right, they averaged less than half of the stadium capacity in a metro area over 6 million people!

Point being that game day atmosphere and attending ball games is not exactly their forte.

Yeah, I read what Miami's coach had to say and in polite coachspeak he wasn't happy either. He questioned how they (miami) could have been on the 16th seed bubble and get sent to the #6 national seed when Duke finished well below them and got sent to the #15 NS.

Good question
