I have/had a positive person in my house. We both wore our mask after he tested positive. I don’t have it (knock on wood). I am doing the right thing watching the game from home.

doesn't mean much. some people only contagious first couple days. i could give you 50 instances of being around somebody with no mask who already tested positive and they didn't get it. Also could give you direct experiences of others getting it, while never removing an n95 mask.
i agree n95 prob helps, but does not prevent 100%, no chance.
It can protect you if you wear it probably. It really protects you if the people around also wear it properly. That shouldn’t be even debatable. It is common sense
The debate that is worth having is if we should bother as a country fighting the spread.
Why the dopey comments about masks? If they help even 5% of the time why not wear them? Only dopes who don't understand odds would not wear them in certain situations.

Lot of sick children in hospitals all time.now those with comorbidities are getting covid and effected.

You are mostly correct. Most masks (KN95 being an exception) are not designed to protect the wearer. They are intended to protect other people FROM the wearer, in case the wearer is unknowingly carrying the disease.
So yes, masks only work if everyone is wearing them, which not everyone does.
But don't blame the masks for that.
