To me this is a bit like UConn hiring KO. He is a totally unproven coach being hired on perceived talent he has in recruiting. That only works long term if you can prove you can coach:

Alex Lomax requested and received his release from Wichita State and will sign with Memphis next month.

One difference is Penny is charismatic and articulate and that wins in the living room. Ollie not so much. He (Penny) also had a really good basketball IQ as a player. That being said, how many former superstars become good coaches?
