to insert Powers in as a starter. In a game and a half, he's 2-12 and 1-6 from 3.

Not to pile on any single player. 20-0 run is a problem widespread with every coach and assistant coach to blame to not draw up a single simple pick and roll or go inside and get fouled play.
Oh, come on – – they tried to run pick and rolls in the first few games so many times and their bigs just can’t gather the ball and finish. Much better chance to score using the pic to create the mid range jumper – – not that this has been so efficient, but the pick and rolls have been about as effective as their alley opp.

You are expecting the coaches to coach???? 😂

good luck with that as i have been waiting years now on the offensive side
This roster is so overmatched. Yes, the coaching has left a lot to be desired but the harsh reality is there are no sets or defensive approach that can make up for the talent gap. We need to double NIL at a minimum next year and that would still only put us to middle of the pack.

How many rotten eggs have Pikiell teams laid in the first half on the road even when they were much more talented than this one? Getting his team up for the first half on the road seems to be a consistent problem. They were awful in the first half tonight and played more than respectable in the second. Can’t beat a CYO team when you score only 16 points in the first half.!

Really no options; stopped watching the game so read he did something in the 2nd half; but ultimately need to find out if he can play or not; and same for Zrno - cause one of those two are not going to be here next season. And my guess is - Zrno will not. So might as well play Powers with Mark & Nwuli. And unless TF scores 30 they aren't going to win anything anyway.

Most of these guys won’t be here next year. They are not good enough for this level.

Powers is going to be a good D1 player, hopefully he does it at RU, has a good stroke, can create his own shot, is a good passer and plays better than average D
You're right but right now he's missing way too many shots. Given how poor we are on the offensive glass in most games, the low shooting percentages from Zrno and Powers are a problem. As I said in another thread, I wish there were more offensive sets for Dylan Grant. When Francis is on the court, the offense has to flow through him. But when he's off the court, Grant should be our primary offensive option. But for that to happen, the kid needs to dig a little deeper and the coach has to show more faith in him.

^This. Again we don 't have any offensive threats in the paint and it makes us easy to defend. Mulcahy-to-Cliff alley oops worked on & off, but defenders would adjust and sag back because Cliff struggled with handling a pass and driving to the basket. How long has it been since we had a 4/5 that could back a defending big down in the paint and hit a turnaround?

in the last 4 games Powers is 12 for 29, which is not great, but not terrible for a frosh who is just beginning to see "regular" minutes

over the same stretch Francis is 24 for 55, Zrno 7 for 28. Would like to see what these numbers are like at the end of February

Powers is a decent passer and if his teammates could convert, well..................also, Pike has Powers playing more with Buchanon than Grant, it would be nice to see how Powers and Grant played together. I do recall him feeding Grant a couple of times underneath and Grant not converting, but reps could cure that.

Lets be honest, Francis is more of a shoot 1st, many observed that at NJIT it took a lot of shot for him to get his points

Both Johnson and Omoruyi could have done that if we taught them how to. Brandon Knight & co. is not interested in scoring that way.

I think he has a nice feel for the game, and will be a survivor in our sh%ty offense as he always seems to find the open area. I think he has one really big scoring game before the end of the season.

I could be wrong, but I think Pike, Knight and Tariq are likely a package deal. If Pike’s around next season so wil Francis be.

Tariq is going to get his one chance next season to play in an offense that’s either designed for him to succeed at Rutgers or find pne his skill set fits with elsewhere at the top level. Either way, unlike last offseason, he will be marketable this time regardless of what some may think.
