Is that just the west or all inclusive? If inclusive, boy the east needs to buckle down and start playing some better out-of-conference competition. I know Tarboro plays some larger schools. Maybe the rest should take a page from their book.

Don’t know about the west but here in the east it’s difficult to get larger schools to play 1A teams. They also want to play a tougher schedule and see no benefit in scheduling them for SOS or gate revenue

So many of these 1A East schools have no fan base, no support, no tradition and most importantly no money. North Edgecombe has some advantages in that they are in a school system with 3 high schools. They get to play SWE and Tarboro every year just for convenience. Even so, they are an incredibly undersized school in an impoverished area with little or no money and facilities that are lacking. At least they have some tradition and past success. So many 1A schools in the East are of a similar blueprint, located in poor rural areas with very little local support. These programs are hurting just trying to keep the doors open. In many cases, there are barely enough volunteers to take tickets, announce the game, serve concessions, etc. SOS is a distant afterthought to the simplest basics. Some of these schools imposed travel restrictions beyond a certain radius because their travel budget can't handle additional fuel costs.

I hope it stays that until after next weeks game.
The way it looks the winner of East Wilkes and stm this week will be on MA’s side of the bracket. I don’t think either one of them look forward to meeting MA again

EW couldnt play any worse against MA than they did the 1st time. Less deer in the headlights this time...i would say.

I kind of doubt that. Didn't they drive right down the field and score. There's no deer in the headlights. More like they woke up the giant. They're soft. That's all there is to it. At least The Rams have physicality.

See everybody’s super secret formula is different. Simmons has ER number 1 in SOS. Think Thomas Jefferson at 2.. That subjective stuff is fun ain’t it?

Being honest, I don’t really understand why a winless team or even a team that has 2 or 3 wins even makes the playoffs. Nobody wants to see Mt Airy/Tarboro/North Moore/Robbinsville/Murphy/Andrews etc beat someone 85-0. It’s just stupid. Take the best 32 teams from east and west and play the game. It would be way more interesting that way.

If two teams are close to equal I'd take the one with the tough schedule instead of the cupcake schedule. If the toughest teams you play are in the 1a playoffs it could cost you.

If you can’t beat the 1A teams in regular season then you are in real trouble come playoffs. After this week’s games it’s a whole new season.

This is really true. On Friday night, I watched Wilson Prep hold a public outdoor practice session against Rocky Mount Prep. Even though I paid money to watch it, I just can’t call that an actual football game. RM Prep has scored 6 points all season. They have a forfeit win over Northampton which they lost on the field 72-0. Projections have them playing West Columbus in the first round. Other than sending gate receipts to the Association to continuously add to their endowment, there is no point in having that game. None.

Nothing’s perfect. Also, does that mean Starmount’s in lot of trouble, lol. SOS mean nothing now, and the RPI has always been pretty much clueless. Speaking of teams being beat down aren’t always exclusive to let’s say a 3-7 teams that don’t seem to belong. However I Seen Albemarle team put up 55-60 points on every team it faced in the 1A playoffs, with a so-so SOS. Winning records and some who’d scored a crap ton of points that, year and in the playoffs, well all but 1 team, they beat them by only a point I believe, didn’t matter. They got good at the right time. The system shouldn’t be money hungry but it is. Theses teams gotta play someone like everyone else all year and in the playoffs. At least they’re a way out in the opt out option that I’m reading about here. For now it’ll have to do. Also, as for steel sharpening steel, not too sure of that. Seen a soft metal headed hose clamps, of all things, cut an axle into 3 times on a customers car. First and only time I every seen it.
