This is what many don’t understand. Living out of state, he’s the connection that keeps people informed.
I lived out of the entire country for 8 years and never needed to listen to him to stay informed, so you're right, I don't understand. I am going to assume this is a generational thing. I don't listen to talk radio OR talk television, at all.
He's done this throughout the season. I don't know what you'd like him to say really. If he screamed that Pope needs to be fired, it wouldn't do any good because 1) no one wants to listen to a maniac just scream something into existence and 2) Pope is clearly getting a third year so what's the point?

Idk why he was calling for a divorce with Cal after Oakland. But now he’s saying Pope deserves a third year. Just be consistent is all I ask. This season was way worse than Oakland.
I'm not a KSR fanboy. He turned on Calipari, only because Cal cut him off. Pope is giving him access to the program, so he's all about #Year3. Comes off as a grifter, also the dumbass southern accent he does to mock our fans, is insulting.
Good for him, one of the best schools in America. And I say this as a guy who's wife and 5 kids graduated from UK

That's not being consistent though. I don't think Pope is the guy either but in his first year he gathered a staff and team in a few weeks, ended up beating Duke and Louisville and going to a Sweet 16. I'm sorry but for a first year in a new era with a coach who no one considered a home run hire, that was a success. His second year clearly wasn't that but most people (and most in local media) aren't going to call for a coach to be fired in year two after lots of injuries and winning a game in the NCAA Tourney. Cal had multiple failures over multiple years and began taking shots at the fanbase he supposedly lead.
Because the signs are there, look at the recruiting, the same issues, with poor effort and slow starts, blowout losses, as in year 1. Pope has been coaching for 15 years. This is who he is. He's a 50+ year old coach, who's coached in Utah mainly. With 0 NBA or AAU connections. He's a question mark to most high schoolers. And a dork/weirdo at worst. We're just kicking the can down the road.
I agree with this but when you're dealing with millions of dollars, a team that has to be paid every single year now, and an outgoing AD and possibly a President soon, a change isn't going to be made this quickly. Oh, we're also paying the football coach that was fired as well. UK can't tap into unlimited funds and the programs that would gladly fire a coach for one frustratingly bad year (but still got a W in the tourney) is incredibly small. If year three is like year two, the new AD might be on board with...this board.
