The Baltimore-Washington corridor produces a ton of good football players. The Big Whatever's move into PA, NJ, and MD means more of those kids are interested in staying at home, ala the 80's when PSU and UMD use to battle hammer and tongs over the MD kids.

Now MD can tell those recruits parents that they can travel a reasonable distance to see them play PSU, OSU, Mich, and MSU, four very good football programs regularly, plus thump Rutgers yearly. Before the move Clemson was the closest power team. FSU the other, was akin to our Oklahoma trips with the caveat you only got to see them at home once every four years.

Unless the folks are rabid UMD fans and would be fine with watching them play anyone, the former situation is going to to beat the latter one every time. Plus MD sits in basketball recruit heaven and now plays in a much less top-heavy league in that sport. It won't be long before the Terp's own the Lil' 13 outright. Maybe they can call the regular season "The Maryland Invitational Tournament"?

And people are wondering why rumors of G. Tech jumping from the ACC are floating around again?

Imagine how much our life we would be better in the big10
Only the money, and how long would we stay interested in that with all the losses? Imagine how quickly our football program would die in the division with Ohio St, Penn St, Michigan, and Michigan St.

I thought I read on this very forum for the last couple of months that the B1G sucked in comparison to the rugged Big 12.

Kind of looks a little tougher, once you put it down on paper, eh? Add a couple crossover games against the likes of Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, Northwestern, and perhaps the B1G doesn't suck quite as bad as many believe.

No the Big10 still sux. OSU and Michigan are usually at least semi good. The rest are often not very good. Sprinkled w a few decent teams like Braska, Wisy, and Ped State. Let's not pretend that playing Iowa, purdue, msu, northwestern, maryland, indiana, illinois, minnesota, and Rutgers shouldn't all be wins for any decent team, at least this season. Msu is the only one of that bunch that was down this year, the rest are usually about the same, aka not good.
