86 t the Old White......84 at Mountain Greens at Massanutten and 84 at Spring Creek near Charlottesville....new putter grip has really stopped the wrist motion...good so far

Nice work, those are solid scores. I've heard good things about those grips. I'm playing Saturday in orchard park, Harvest Hill. Good course I'll let you know how I do. I haven't played since I had my appendix cut out of me
I am in a charity tournament at Fore Sisters in Rawlings, MD next Thursday. I am so out of practice. Luckily, it is a best ball tournament. I'll only be expected to hit long off the tee.
Me too. It is a great cause as well. One of my usual partners retired. There is nothing like a 60 year old guy who always wants me to tee off first then say "Well, I can't top that distance. I am only here to drink beer and putt".
I used to like them, and played in quite a few over the last few decades. However, about 8 or 9 years back, I played in a pretty big one over at the ****** course in Summersville, and they were paying out dough to the winners, skins, closest to, etc, and we ended up playing extremely well that day, carding a 14 under, thinking we had a good chance of winning. Then you come in, only to find out you got pencil whipped. We got pissed about it, because the winning team was a group of young punks playing the hole in front of us all day, and we were actually laughing at how bad they were playing throughout the round, only to find out they carded a 55. It was probably more like a 75. The only ones I play in now, other than charity/good causes events, are ones at my home course, where they play 3 man teams, and have two teams per hole. It's amazing how much higher the scores are during these events. Depending on conditions and course setup, anywhere from 7 to 9 under usually wins.

same thing happened to our team in Virginia Beach last year...we were 16 under, 3 shots clear of everyone....there had been a rain delay and one team finished 10 minutes after us....they FILLED OUT THEIR SCORE CARD...while staring at the scoreboard and ...wonder of wonders, beat us by one..........I have heard of the three man team thing....sounds interesting.. hard to cheat unless you're in cahoots.....thank you for a decent conversation
Unfortunately, that happened as well. A family would come in to play in our scrambles, brothers, nephews, sons, cousins, uncles, and would always insist on playing together as two 3-man teams. Of course, they would card albatrosses on par 5's, win the big skin pots, win not only 1st place but 2nd place as well. Members got pissed and stopped playing in them, and finally, after several tournaments, they made them split up. They never were able to compete again, and they ended up never coming back. Back woods bastards.
we had a guy at my old course who would invariably shoot 9 shots better on the second day of a tournament than the first (we had a 10 shot move up a flight rule), and almost always win his flight. After one tournament the pro got a letter signed by 60 members stating that if he played tournaments they wouldn't....end of that story
