[The Situation]

The problem with Elitedawgs is two fold:

1) The constant patronizing talk of the moderators, or whoever that group is there that think they know everything, you know who they are, there's about 6-7 of Peaches' buddies. The wannabe guys who try to get involved with the big boys. "Look guys, don't do this, believe this, we know this and you don't, be patient.....blah blah blah". They sound like Gene and Rosey trying to control the flock on GP, except more douchey and less knowledgeable.
2) The reeking desperation of the hordes of other posters who believe those guys know something and continually kiss their *** and beg for attention.

Other than that, it's MSU sports talk like anywhere else.

I don't think anyone feels threatened by ED...it has its place. I'm sure there's some quality discussion over there. Those guys running it don't know any more than anyone else does, so proclamations otherwise are going to get ridiculed, especially since C34 has a history over here.

Oh, you're right about that. I know that most of them don't know 1/10th as much as they like to pretend they do (and your average poster knows that too). But there are 2 or 3 who seem to have some limited inside knowledge. In that respect, it's very similar to this board.

And, to be fair, the thread in question does have a lot of ridiculous stuff in it - but, again, look who started it. I mostly ignore him and anything he says. The regular posters are ok, for the most part, and I just enjoy discussing sports with them.

I enjoy reading ED, SPS, and SEC Rant. They all have their place, and their pluses and minuses.

Coach34 is a complete *** as an internet persona. May be a great guy in the real world, but I stayed completely away from ED and left SPS for a while solely because he made me a worse person.

C34 rarely even posts over at ED any more. He shows up every now and again to give his take on things, take it or leave it, but he is not a regular contributor.

I won't claim that I know 100% what SPS's original founding principles are, but having come here during the Croom Era I know the place was one of the few boards (if not the only) dedicated to MSU athletics where you could say the truth about the team and not get banned (saying Croom was not the answer on GP probably led to 90% of the membership in the first decade). That's pretty much it. It was also the only one where you could call out someone else for being full of it or tell them their opinion is dumb (you had to treat every idiot at GP with respect, especially if it was one of the paid content providers). That's ultimately what attracted the ED founder and ultimately why he left (because he couldn't accept that he was full of it and his opinions were dumb).

This is a gross mischaracterization of the thread in question. I don't understand why some SPS posters feel so threatened by EliteDawgs. Some people prefer it to SPS, some prefer SPS, and lots of people participate on both. Personally, I can't stand C34. But I participate on his board because it is heavy on sports talk as opposed to the OT stuff that SPS seems to prefer. I also got burnt out on many of the confrontational Ole Miss posters that used to frequent this board. I also got tired of the apparent effort to see who could be the biggest smart *** over here.

I know none of you probably even remember me, you don't care I'm (mostly) gone, and you don't care what I have to say about it. I'm cool with that. It's just weird seeing the commentary on ED over here. It's obvious that many of you feel threatened by its existence...I just don't understand why. But, whatever, downvote me and continue your odd circle jerk over why SPS is so much better than ED.

And I know you don't - I just don't understand why there are always threads over here throwing rocks at ED. Especially when there are several dozen people who frequent both. It's just odd to me.

There's really not a huge C34 crowd over there. It's about 50/50. He wasn't even posting on there for the last year, and many of us were thankful.

But hey, this is America now. Everyone is irrationally divided about EVERYTHING. So why should I be surprised. Carry on.

And TBone - Yes, SECR is nothing but a troll board. It's worth nothing more than entertainment.

I agree. I've never read SEC Rant that I remember. The main thing I dislike about ED is some of the members tendency to spread their tail feathers when they're right about something, but never mention the topic again if they're wrong. Otherwise, it's an OK board. There's no reason to not read and participate in both boards.

I suspect that the people who post both places don't throw rocks and those that stick to SPS just find ED sad/comical/unbelievable anytime we venture over(admittedly, I go look whenever something absurd is brought up here - kinda like craning my neck at a train wreck). But not "threatened". Can't wrap my head around that terminology as it relates to this subject. And I'm cool with anyone posting wherever they like. The C34 factor is enough to keep me far, far away, but I understand that is personal preference.
