Malcolm joining Trailblazer Conference

Malcolm becomes the seventh member of the Trailblazer Conference, joining Beatrice, Nebraska City, Platteview, Plattsmouth, Ralston and Wahoo.



This would leave the East Central Nebraska Conference with eight members (Auburn, Elmwood-Murdock, Falls City, Freeman, Johnson County Central, Mead, Palmyra, Weeping Water)

Good for Malcolm, they needed to join this league with their potential for growth. Malcolm shouldn't be playing Weeping Water and Mead. This will help them greatly in their future with scheduling too. I am surprised they joined before Ashland-Greenwood. Have to think they are next.

My brain is having trouble computing Malcolm to the Trailblazer. Malcolm at Beatrice? Ralston at Malcolm?

In my brain, it wasn't that long ago Ralston was playing Prep and Burke, and Beatrice was playing Southeast and Northeast.

Check the Dept of Ed and in 2006 their 4-5-6 grade had 80 kids, in 2020 they had 135! I haven't been through there in years. I'll have to get off Hwy 34 sometime and see the growth.

I was shocked when I heard it too, but I think they wanted to get their seat at the table now. Malcolm has to be almost full. Wouldn’t shock me to see them try to pass a bond to build more classrooms and additions.

I thought AG would be the next team in.

Not a ton of growth in Malcolm. Still a village. A few houses and housing developments have gone up in the district. Large number of students opt in.

I've heard people that live even in the Fallbrook area in Lincoln will drive into Malcolm. It's only a 13-minute drive.
