Bear fan here.
First off, great game to the Cardinals. Had a simple game plan and executed beautifully. Diamont out coached Holder completely and totally. Great job to them and best of luck the rest of the way.
Next, I have to say that tonight couldn't have been more embarrassing for Mount Airy. Simply outplayed, East Surry wanted it more, and just completely blew Mount Airy back in every phase of the game. Pure and simple. On senior night in the Bears' own house no less. After all this talk of a 16-0 season and talk around town of how this MA team is on the same level as 2008, this loss was a punch in the gut and face back to reality. Cardinals run pretty much the exact same plays over and over on offense, made long drives, capitalized, and held Mount Airy to three and outs. Mount Airy in the pretty, new era spread offense got manhandled by old school, ground and pound. No excuses on this one. Bears are totally a more talented team, as their season and schedule has shown, but they honestly looked unprepared, clueless, overconfident, in a total daze and confused that they were getting their rear ends handed to them, and looked for someone to lead them out, but nobody stepped up to do it. My prediction (and I hope I am wrong): we won't survive the second round (heck after tonight's performance, the first round is no guarantee). Not gonna be beating East Surry for at least the next four years so tonight was their last chance for a while. Oh well, it was a good season while it lasted
