M over S helmet tweak

I think that Saturday night showed that the M over S could look really good on a helmet, but a minor tweak or two is needed to help it pop while still retaining clean design elements like a charter SEC member institution's helmet should have.

Basically, take what we had on Saturday, increase the decal size by 10-15% and add a gray stroke about the thickness of what Auburn uses on their AU logo, and we are done:

I’ll never understand why so many of you want our entire athletic program to look like it’s stuck at the D2 level. The M over S is a nice logo for baseball. Looks great on those hats. It doesn’t need to be anywhere else permanently.

I believe that the M over S has the same "it" factor that the AU has for Auburn, the block G has for UGA, the power T has for Tennessee, the aTm has for Texas A&M, the script Gators has for Florida and even the script "Ole Miss" has for UM. Simple, letter based logos with stroke added for contrast. Yes, it has long belonged to baseball but I don't understand why that mark can't be used elsewhere, other than an irrational fear of sullying the baseball brand by associating it with other athletics.

The banner M-State is a nice yet unremarkable athletic logo. The M over S, on the other hand, "just means more" to a good portion of our fanbase.

Gonna need ChillyBilly's take on this first.

Since we're throwing out ideas, what about this?

But on a helmet, not unlike this:

This is incorrect.

M over S is a baseball logo. Pretty much any interlocking letter logo that comes to mind is a baseball logo. If you peruse through professional football team logos then you won’t see any interlocking letters. Except for LA rams, because they were lazy and needed to remind their lazy fans that the team wasn’t in Missouri anymore. Chargers did the same thing by electrifying the dodgers logo. But other than those two franchises with idiot fans, interlocking logos are for baseball. Norte dame doesn’t count because the priest wouldn’t let Holtz put an interlocking ND on the dome.

Eta: the m over s on the helmet to honor the baseball team for that one particular game was awesome.

Just because 8 MLB teams have interlocking letter logos doesn't make it a baseball exclusive.

First, the MoverS has been used as a baseball only logo for over 50 years. MoverS is a baseball brand for Mississippi State.

However, the NC on UNC's football helmet looks decent but their NC is much larger on the helmet than this past weekends baseball logo. Georgia Tech logo looks larger and strong on the helmet. I am not sure why State uses such a small MState logo and again small MoverS.

The logo's of Auburn, Oklahoma and Baylor are to small, simple and plain. I get why they keep those logos as they have a long tradition for those schools. Also, I got why they use them on the football helmet as they have been used as a school wide logo too, for many years. MoverS has not been used in that capacity for Mississippi State.

WV logo reminds me of Charlies Brown, talk about a school that needs a new imagine. I thought Kentucky's and Indiana's power K and I look much better than their current UK and IU. I like the power logos of Wisconsin and Tennessee for example.

If Mississippi State wants to come up with a new football helmet logo, come up with something creative, powerful and eye catching. Also, something that differs us from aTm.

I can’t unsee the beady little alien eyes looking back at me after you made that change with the grey.

Maybe that’s one of the dead Indians?**

The M over S definitely gets my vote for the change. Can anyone crop up images to where it’s made a little larger and see how it looks? Also any images of it on white, grey, and black helmets?

Also, the jerseys need to be tweeted to coincide. In other words take the banner off the chest.

If State had adopted the baseball logo as an all sports logo decades ago, then I would be all for it remaining on our helmets. But I don't think it looks as good as the banner logo and I can't see adopting it now.

It was a great and deserved tribute to the baseball team. Honestly, I was disappointed in the way it looked when I finally saw it on the helmets. Just stick with our brand.

Yep, I noticed the little devil as well…. That was not done on purpose. Actually makes it more endearing to have an accidental Easter Egg in there, imo
