The committee gave Kansas to WSU a couple of years ago and Lawrence has never forgiven them. They won't do it again I bet. But if Baylor is a # 3, we get a good 6-11 match-up. That could be WSU or Arkansas, or SMU. Northwestern would be my favorite to come here. They would bring every alum in history.

WSU and Arkansas can't be the 8/9 here because they are both closer to Tulsa than Kansas is.
Question for Phoggy..... Why is FGCC allowed play Florida State in Orlando since Fla State should be a protected 1-4 seed geographically? They are closer to Orlando than Fla State.?????

Because Florida St gets the closest pod which Orlando. The 14, 15 and 16 seeds get sent as close to home as possible which for FGCU is Orlando. The NCAA does not believe that is a significant advantage for those seeds. Wichita would get a geographic advantage over a 7 seed and then a 2 seed. Arkansas would get an advantage over a 9 seed and a 1.

to which I say, BS BS BS, you have no idea what you are talking about Phoggy. Your KU bias always shows up this time of year, particularly when it involves WSU. Please shut yourself up.

And, you might want to realize why many in the crowd will root against KU and its arrogant fans, even if that means cheering for Michigan State or Miami. I will.

Phoggy I still think FGCC still has a huge home advantage that a 14 seed should not have. They have lots of fans there plus the other teams are yelling for them.

I think the committee flat out avoided having a potential Wichita State/KU matchup for a 2nd year in a row. Wichita State is as much of a 10 seed as Kentucky was an 8 seed the year the committee rigged WSU's bracket to make sure they had the hardest, most difficult time getting out of their region. However, they didn't do the same thing to Gonzaga this year. There have been some curious seeds...like Maryland a 6 seed and higher than Wisconsin.

I don't think Phoggy's argument holds any water. KU was coming here as a 1 seed. No problems with that. Once Baylor was a 3 seed, that eliminated any Big XII team as an 8/9 in the Midwest or a 6-11 in the other pod. Once you determine your top 2 seeds in the pod then you have to manipulate the bracket a ton to make sure you don't have any conference matchups before the round of 16. I believe that is the only actual guideline they have to follow. The regionality and placing teams as close to home as possible to lessen travel is merely a consideration to keep travel costs (paid by the NCAA) down. I can't say they did a terrible job with the teams we got here. Sure it would have been fantastic to have Kansas & Baylor & OSU & Arkansas & SMU & Wichita State but guidelines and seeding didn't matchup. OkState was never coming here. You could have conceivably had Arkansas and Wichita State face off in an 8-9 game with the winner playing Kansas. The BOK's roof may have come off in that one. As it is Baylor/SMU is a great 2nd round matchup. KU vs Miami/Mich St is a great 2nd round matchup.

Seeding is a mess this year for all the reasons mentioned. Too much politics.

Reminder-Lunardin is still a dbag.
