5-seed in Seattle
I was thinking the same thing. That was actually the 2002 team but we got super hot near the end of the season and won the SEC Tournament. I don’t think we were even ranked in the top 25 until late in the season, but we zoomed all the way up to a 3 seed. In 2003, we were a 5 seed and lost to Butler in the first round after Clark Kellogg picked us to go to the Final Four on the selection show.Real shot that 4-1 makes us a top 4 seed. Oklahoma is first team out so they will be ready to play.
To me this season feels like the 2003 season. We were a good club, No. 3 seed (got put with No. 6 seed Texas in Dallas) but it set up a great 2004 season where we won the SEC.
Great…. Get that classic 5 and 12 upset****![]()

So you’re telling me we aren’t getting any calls from the refs? The bubble goes through us, it seems. 3 of our last 5 opponents are either barely in this field or barely out of it.
I was thinking the same. Anytime there is a chance for us to lend a helping hand to an underdog . . .So you’re telling me we aren’t getting any calls from the refs?
Those seasons run together. Sorry for mixing them up. I was in Dallas, Orlando and Birmingham for those games. Vowed never to go to a first weekend NCAAT game again.I was thinking the same thing. We were not ranked when we were making that run in the SEC tournament. We were undefeated on the road yet still not ranked. I remember a commentator on ESPN at the time said something like “What an embarrassment that Mississippi State isn’t ranked”. I’ll always remember that.I was thinking the same thing.
